Humble is a handy plan B if Roberts doesn't work out.

Yeah right. Has anyone seen him play well yet? Really he may turn out to be a decent player, but in his few games he has done nothing to suggest that he is what people are assuming he is. I don't understand, please explain. Show me the footage of him doing great things in 1st grade or at least list a few...or something, where, what, when?

I must of missed most of them. Someone please set me straight, enlighten me. What have I missed? Sh*t it must of happen real quick and totally deceptive stuff, so much so that we all kind of missed these great showings of football mastery on the field.

Anyone, anyone...

Humble to me is nothing special of the handful of games I have seen him play. Having said that he might become a good first grader if he gets as many chances as morts & robs have had.

Roberts is a much better player but he has been a first grader for a while barring this year .

Yeah why don't we all bag a kid because in his half a dozen games he has played in first grade, with some of them being on the bench, he hasn't turned out to be a superstar yet. He has shown potential which is all we can ask at this stage and is more than some other halves have shown. How about we give him a chance to string a few games together before deathriding him.
And i agree he was pretty bloody good against Manly.

i thought he played well last year against Manly at brookie.
Was close to man of the match.

Really, that game???

That was his worst game in first grade, he was awful at fullback!!!

Hopefully he gets a decent shot at first grade this year though, our halves are abysmal and if he is better, even if only slightly, he should be there.

He played 5/8th that game, didn't he?

He played quite well that game and it was our second best team effort behind the game against the Storm.

It was the game against the Warriors that he played fullback and had a barry crocker

Yep sorry, my bad! Not sure why I thought it was against Manly that he was fullback.....

He was solid vs Manly, Hayne was great in that game!

Give him the run morts & robson has had & you will be eating your words

If he was that good he would already have had that opportunity.

Do you think Anderson wanted to lose games? If Humble was good enough he would have played more last year.

He's one of those players whose clear strength is his running game - so he's awesome in the lower grades where nobody can tackle but just doesn't have the same impact in first grade.

Ben Roberts is another, the difference being he has a few more strings to his bow.

Clearly we have the potential making of a very potent and affective halves combination. The question is will Roberts live up to his ability and obvious skills potential or will he remain a hot and cold player that lets you down when you need him the most due to a lack of mental toughness and not applying himself as well as he should be for the sake of a good time?

Time will tell, but if I had to make a call now, I favour him succeeding with us due to his age, maturity and shift of clubs and therefore needing to prove himself at a new club and under a new hard task master coach that I don't think will let him take any short cuts.

But then again, you can lead a eel to water, but you can't make him swim.

probably cos he was dead from being out of the water

Actually, the game against Manly was Tom Humble`s first-grade debut. He played five-eight. Mortimer was half-back. Humble showed a lot of composure and a lot of skill; came within inches of scoring a fifty meter try (tackled by Jamie Lyon inches short of the line); showed flair in getting the ball out to our backs (who had been starving with Mortimer at five-eight); defended very well; got pole-axed by Anthony Whatmough, but continued to play on and showed a lot of courage. In his next five first
grade games he was used as a hooker, fullback and winger. As soon as Kris Keating was over his injury, Keating came back into the team and Humble went back to Wenty - where he stayed for the rest of the year. He was never given a chance to grow into the five-eight spot (his specialist position) in first grade. Meanwhile, Daniel - "I think I can" - Mortimer was selected week after week after week, and got worse every game.

Sorry, Pou Pou, you`re wrong. I think Daniel Mortimer last year was the worst half/five-eight in the game. So why do you think Anderson persisted with him when he could have used a Robson/ Keating combination or a Robson/Humble combination or a Keating/Humble combination or a Robson/Keating combination?
Either Anderson was told he had to select Mortimer; or Anderson was stupid; or Anderson was stubborn.
Tom Humble was voted the best back at Wentworthville last year. Why did he not get more of a look-in at NRL level? Not because of his form, surely. Jonathon Wright played a fair amount of first grade, but he was not considered as good as Humble at Wenty.
Tom Humble`s obvious talent has been absolutely wasted since he came to Parramatta.
