Well so did you, endlessly voting for amateurs. I'm sure you and all the other members thought they were doing what was best for the club as well.

Come on Pou, surely you can't believe this line you keep pedalling?
The members can only vote for the candidates who put their hands up. Is it the members fault that the quality of candidate has been so poor for so long? Yes, you'll say that they keep voting poor candidates in, but what choice do they have?
The only choice is to refuse to vote, like I have done. But some are more passionate than that, and want to have a say in the way the club is run.
You cannot blame the members.
The blame lies with the incompetent douche bags who keep running for these positions, who have proven time after time that they are way out of their depth to hold positions on our board.

Interesting to see the fraud squad's involvement. I wonder what the allegation is ? Player managers pressuring (extorting) the Eels to breach the cap ? Threats to pull players if cash money is not paid ?

On a side note to @The Colonel 's comment above - Peter Nolan is alleged to have handed Norman cash in a Ryde carpark. Assume he is not immune to prosecution albeit he is employed by the Teflon Broncos ?

He will plead the Andrew Gee defence.

He might not get the opportunity if evidence shows any involvement.

Fortunately for the Broncos, there was no whistle blower to give them any evidence. I think that in our case, Sharp appears more than prepared to point fingers.

Not sure you'll have to ask them.

I suppose it was the Australian people's fault that all we had to choose from was Talkbull and Shorten at the last election??? It's all the American people's fault they get to choose between Trump and Clinton??? You can only vote for the people who put their hands up. Hopefully now with the Mad Max's good governance and stuff we get a better quality of candidate.
And people only put their hands up if they're a chance of getting elected. Most voters don't have a clue what would make a good elected official. They just pick the people who seem to hate the same stuff as them.

The 'incompetent douche bags' are either the most competent of all the people eligible to run (and vote ) or they are the most popular.

Either way there is a problem with the voting pool as a whole.

True, and we all know the NRL do anything unless there is a whistleblower pointing straight at the evidence.

This is the fraud squad investigating not the NRL so Nolan et al cant use the Andrew Gee defense.

While I reckon the player agents are too smart to leave anything laying about their offices, it would be interesting if the fraud squad uncovered a few skeletons.
Imagine if, say the last 2 or 3 comp winners were found to have made some dodgy deals of their own?

If any other club is found to be breaching from 2012-2013, we might avoid those spoons and Kearney may no longer be considered worst club coach ever...

Congrats to Nick Tabakoff, on his Walkley award nominations....

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...s/news-story/0df00aded4542c543a5c19b9d8c95314

"SIX Daily Telegraph journalists have been nominated as finalists for the 2016 Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.

Editor-at-Large Nick Tabakoff leads the charge being nominated in two categories, Scoop of the Year and Best Print News Report, for his six-month long series, “The Parramatta Eels NRL scandal”. The stories on the iconic NRL club’s salary cap rorting resulted in several board members banned and a police investigation in which four player agents’ offices were raided yesterday."

It's not watergate you tool.

All you did was go to print with reams of emails and print outs stolen from the club by the snitch. A cadet could have done the same thing.

Stop acting like you're god's gift to journalism.

Firstly, the involvement of the fraud squad doesn't necessarily imply that they suspect the agents of fraud....they may be seeking evidence relating to potential charges against other parties (i.e. people associated with our club). But, assuming agents sign of on player declarations regarding TPAs etc, then they could have suspicions regarding a breech of the Oaths Act. And they could have suspicions of fraudulent activity more broadly, if they believe that agents have acted deceptively to obtain a benefit (note....the agent gets a cut of their players' negotiated remuneration). So, for instance, deliberately concealing/misrepresenting the true amount of a release payment to enable their player to take up a lucrative deal overseas could get them in trouble (though I doubt that would stick.).
