I hear ya jodeci....i dont believe that DA was punted cause of DF, i am upset as the way it has panned out but when you actually sit down and analyze the way we played this year there is credit for punting DA if we want to be successful..

Jodeci, while your here, do you know if our round 1 match against Saints is on a Friday? Also, do you know when the draw will be released to the public?

Do we punt a coach everytime we finish outside the 8? Good thing wests didn't have that attitude since 2005,would have ran out of coaches and yet they almost made the GF this year. Lets not forget that the competition is closer than it's ever been and teams are making the 8 with an equal win to loss ratio now. It's only going to get closer under the salary cap. Not alot in it. Someone has to miss out. DA didn't make us finish where we did. There is a personal agenda behind this. It's not performance based. Personally I don't really care who coaches at Our club, but whoever does, give them complete control over the football side, show some faith, let them see out their contracts and leave all the personal BS aside.

I did not want DA to be treated the way he did and would be just as happy for him to coach 2011, however i feel he was too soft on some players performances this year and didnt have the balls to put players on notice..Players like Morts, Inu and Mateo shouldve been dropped during the year to bounce back..He failed at managing players mentally..This as well as non existant game plans and structures in place brought down his demise...Fair enough our halves were sh*te, but why not drop them earlier and try some other options instead of waiting for round 20 odd...

I have to agree 100% with this.

I know where you are coming from but I think it comes down to how much control DA had. Hagan was much softer and he stayed on. Maybe because he was a brown nose. Don't think the board would have appreciated 3 or more players on 200k+ running around at Ringrose park. Would be good if Anderson,Smith,Hagan and JT could all come forward and explain just how much pull they had on major decisions while coaching at Parra.(Signings, selections, development etc). I'd doubt they had any.

Decisions need to be made about players at certain stages of their careers...That is why Wayne Bennett has won 6 titles.....Cayless i think played a year too long at least.. Picking MK ahead of AM mid way through the season when we had nothing from dummy half... Fair dinkum MK does not know how to throw a damn ball...

But I thought the board were against Fitzy's men?

Anyone under the old regime are sacked?

Correct me if I'm wrong?

Isn't that what everyone is saying?

Ossie said on the radio yesterday that 75% of the football staff were there while Fitzy was there...

people can go with so much crap but the proof is infront of you.

People will always just use the bits that suit their argument and continue to ignore inconvenient facts like that Stags.

What a crap decision by a crap bunch of Directors....

"Sack the Board, not the Coach!"

Desperate to get elected in the first place, they didn't care about the disruption they caused through the media.

Desperate to get re-elected, they don't care about the disruption they cause in terminating a coaching contract one year early, and at the start of the off-season.

It's going to be a long road back from the damage 3P have done. I hope Members won't be fooled into voting them in again, especially if new (possibly micromanaged?) coach Steve Kearney gets a few wins together before the elections....

Judging by the result of this poll (and others on news sites) the current Directors will be facing some angry members come election time - and rightly so imo :?.

Just want To say it was a great decision by the board. DA failed miserably this year especially with the team he had.

Takes a lot of guts to make such big call such as this. And it goes to show that failure is not an option unlike the many poor years under the old board. True DA sacking could have been done better this board ain't perfect. But at least they haven't burnt 12 million dollars on a soccer team. At least they can guarantee our future unlike the previos board.

One could argue that because we looked like clueless tards for the majority of the season it meant he's a bad coach.
But in general, I agree with this, there are only 8 teams that make the finals, sooner or later every team is going to have to miss out at some point and I don't think the board had the level of maturity to digest the fact that we didn't make the 8.
I'm quite dumbfounded that we sack a coach who took an inherited team to the grand final simply due to a missed finals berth for the subsequent year, particularly in a year where the board felt the constant need to poke their noses about in the realm of coaching. Perhaps it was all Hayne last year, but first and foremost there are 17 blokes out there in a team, you don't take a team to a grand final if your a 'bad coach', that sort of logic should never exist, although it's something the board seems to believe. Considering my past history of non-stop whinging and questioning of DAs decisions this year, I may seem two-faced, but I never once considered an early ending to DAs job at the helm.

I hope i'm not alone in saying that DA at the very least should have been given the reigns for 1 more year so as to see out his contract and show whether he really was worth the value which took us to a magnificient grand final last year, he deserved that extra year and the board had no right to give him the sh*t treatment that he earned this year.

Oh Osborne said it so it must be true.

The turnover at the Leagues Club and Football Club has been huge since the board was elected, anyone who wants to believe otherwise can PM me and I'll give you the list.

Can you also pm if there were any savings in wages?

One could only assume that reducing staff will reduce wages, that's just common sense. But the problem with cutting staff in the manner it's been done is spending thousands on investigators/lawyers/payouts etc.

How's it hard to comprehend? They didn't want him because of his association to Fitzy. They would have done it last year but making the GF threw a spanner into the works.

well can you please explain to me how blokes like Matt Cameron, Rod Reddy, Peter Sharp and Ossie's 2IC Phil Moss all kept their jobs when they were all employed by Fitzy?

keep clutching at straws..

It didn't heppen over night, but it did heppen. ;-)
