Which is why I have said previously on the Stadia thing that if we are broke then fine, spend it on schools etc. But dont whinge about the stadia if you are going to remain silent on the squillion to be spent on the Opera House and Art Gallery (which is going to triple in size).

What!
We have a perfectly good Opera House already there. It's an icon the way it is already!

I'm outraged!
That money could be going to building more footy stadiums, ffs!

I was at Belmore one night with a few mates in the late 90's when the Eels played the Bulldogs. Pouring rain and Parra won both grades by kicking field goals. 5-4 in reserve grade and 7-6 in first grade. Jamie Owens kicked the field goal in first grade. Then we had to drive home in my mates XC Falcon with the windows down in the rain because the demister didn't work properly.

Happy days

How TF do you merkins remember games with fine detail ? I must have destroyed all those brain cells in my 20's.

Interesting question that. I remember that game quite well - but there are dozens of games I have been to since then that I have no memory of at all. You will always remember games that were remarkable in some way - most other games just wash over you.

There are also things I said or did last week that I can't remember.

That reminds me of a game at Belmore I went to in the early 80's where Keith Rugg kicked a goal that won us the game. Keith was my teacher at school and we knew he was going to boasting about this in class.

When he brought it up we all just looked at him and said - sorry we didn't watch the game. No-one said they saw it or heard of it.

I was at that game. Rugg had taught me and my Dogs supporter mate previously at Girraween High. Had a good feeling he was gonna land it as my mate was giving it to me as he thought he had no chance. I made sure he never forgot it. Might have been the only goal he kicked all year
