You have to ask yourself if they generate any new fans though, I would argue that Ipswich is Broncos territory right now.
I also think that your emotive discussion around "healing" means nothing in 2025, and only Boomers were around in 88.
Regardless It's not realistic to think the BRL would have survived against the cashed up Sydney teams with or without the Broncos.
Clearly the 2 Brisbane sides are thriving, let's leave them be for at least a decade.
You think the 25k Dolphins fans are all existing Broncos fans? I think some are. I'm a member of both for example. But there is certainly a core Dolphins only fanbase of around 15k. That is new business for the NRL. And whichever way you want to play it, the fact is that on average 25k more tickets are getting sold every fortnight in Brisbane than were before the Phins and 30k new memberships are being sold. No business or sporting organisation is saying no to that.
So what if the Broncos are big in Ipswich, they were probably big in Redcliffe too (probably still are). These are the same tired arguments trotted out against the Dolphins and against a second NZ team. Rivalries fuel interest and growth in the game.
SEQ is a hardcore RL area and is more than big enough to support four team, and the three in the greater Brisbane area will easily all be able to climb over the 25k average attendance mark.
Say you want about the "emotional" argument, I've also put forward a couple of very logical points also. But there is a feel good factor about the Dolphins making it to the NRL and the Jets would be no different. These clubs mean a lot to their communities outside of "boomers".
Also, I've never argued for them to be brought in anytime before 2032 and in my view, preferably as team 21 after Christchurch.
