Loss making enterprises rarely pay tax.

They make profits (at least sometimes). They pay no income tax because they are set up as not-for-profits, and cannot distribute their surplus to 'shareholders' (members). If they are wound up, the money goes to the govts consolidated revenue.

New central station refurb looks impressive. We need a glam train terminus . Like Grand Central, St Pancras, Gare Du Nord etc. Luke Foley is complaining that the renos will cause disruption. FFS.

I took this photo today.
Confirms what FP said about northern steel framing going up.
As per the southern stand, this will go up quickly.
Behind the crane at the southern end of the pitch is the construction of the next roof frame for the southern stand roof. It looks almost complete so should be lifted into position soon.
At the northern end (closest to picture), there's steel being delivered daily for its construction so this should also be erected quickly.
There's still a fair bit of foundation work to be completed between the north stand and the east stand in that corner before they can be joined up.
The western (corporate side) is also progressing quickly considering it is a far more complex build. It has to get up to the height of the other stands before the roof can be integrated with the rest of the stadium.
Works are also starting to progress on the Eastern side of the stadium on the outside. The plaza side.

I must say, that for a Govt project, I'm really impressed at how well this is progressing.
No doubt, there is massive pressure from the govt to have it finished before the next election as it will be a big vote winner in the west.

NRL eye Parramatta Stadium unveiling days after USA season opener

A state-of-the-art Parramatta Stadium could be used to launch the 2019 season domestically just days after a competition game is played in the United States under a bold plan being hatched by the NRL.

NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg has floated the possibility of the $300 million western Sydney venue being operational in time for round one next year, up to two months ahead of its original proposed completion date.

As Greenberg jetted into Perth on Friday for rugby league's first foray into the $1.6 billion Optus Stadium with Saturday's double-header, plans to have the NRL's next competition opened – at least in Australia – at the country's newest venue continue to gather momentum.

An opening weekend showcase of Parramatta Stadium with the Eels scheduled to play on either a Thursday or Friday night would not only be a huge boost for the NRL, but would also be politically sensitive given the NSW government election will be held on March 23.

And Greenberg is working on plans to have a season opener on the west coast of America – given the working title "Round Zero" – followed by a grand opening of Parramatta Stadium the following week.

"It excites me this time next year we'll be in Parramatta saying something similar," Greenberg said in Perth. "Round one next year we hope to open Parramatta Stadium. That will be a fundamental generational change in Sydney and what follows that is other stadiums at Homebush and Allianz.
