You cant really accelerate/deccelerate a whole lot quicker. All those merkins standing up are gonna be falling like skittles

Really? Yes you can. Have you ever travelled on the Paris metro? The Parisians don't fall over like skittles. Same in Singapore, and multitudes of other cities across the world.

I hope the people of the NW are all fit and healthy. Standing for 1hr trips on a full train wont be alot of fun. I realise there will be more regular trains, but the population is going berko, the peak trains will be full. ... and as already said, the transition period prior to theline going all the way is gonna be a nightmare.

Just like the transition period while the Epping - Chatswood section has been closed down and replaced by buses? Sure, it's been inconvenient and I really thought the media would go nuts over it, yet there's been little complaint and it has evolved rather smoothly actually.

Im not being down on the govt, it is great they are finally doing things. We are just so far behind playing catch ups that i dont know if we will ever actually catch up

We may never catch up, but this is a start, and I'm sick of ignorant Australians (not you) who have never had a decent public transport system, whining about a change to a system that is accepted world wide. A proper Metro. So what if commuters have to stand for 45 minutes? Most of these people spend the rest of their day sitting down at their office desks ffs.

I'm so sick of people whinging about improvement to our infrastructure.
These news reports were laughable...…

The one constant in those videos is Gladys. She has pulled this project through.

I live in The Ponds, so Rouse Hill is my local shopping centre, i hope that toolbag shop owner (2012 video) lost his business from being a f**king moron cause i can sure as hell vouch that the place lost no amount of people going there. That restaurant part there is always busy at night time as expected.

If he lost business, it is not because of the construction (which has had zero impact to accessing the shopping centre) it is because he has no f**king idea!

I work in Chatswood so i am looking forward to May when it opens cause if i go to Schofields and catch a train it is almost 2 hours door to door each way.

I instead get up at 5am to beat traffic and avoid the tolls and park for free on the street about 15 minutes away (about an hour door to door. Thanks to the garbage that is Sydney i have no choice but to use the toll on the way home (roughly $10) or it would take me over an hour and a half.

The train will be around 45 minutes and that suits me fine and i can get up at a more reasonable hour (for me anyways).

It's difficult to understand all the whinging about the Metro and even the City light rail. These Infrastructure necessities were announced several times over by previous govts and never started , which given the immigration numbers encouraged was almost criminal .

I travellled and workd for business in a lot of different places. California continues to build metros and light rail. San Fran has light rail running through th CBD as well as the trolleys ,and only 20 odd years ago built the BART underground . Los Angeles has also put in a light rail, and is expanding it currently. San Jose has light rail running through the center of town to suburbs.

London, New York,Paris, Amsterdam and most Eurpoean cities and plenty more have ongoing expansion of light rail etc, and just get on with life. This NIMBY attitude is what holds us back.

As said before, a change of govt will see this State lucky to build a bus shelter, and the Sydney to the border dual carriageway would still finish at Karuah. Once finished we will wonder why we didn't have it previously. The ability to complain about everything and anything is a symptom of the bombardment of social media by micro groups and the 24 hour news cycle using words like devastating, abnormal etc to report everything from a traffic jam to the weather.

When people compare these other cities to Sydney they really need to be aware of the scale. Distances in Sydney are huge. The idea of a metro for 50km trips is laughable compared to the Paris metro, NY , London or even the basic metro service in LA. (LA metros have to be experienced to be believed).

As soon as you are travelling Rouse Hill-type distances, even in LA, you are in a real train, with real stations and seats.

As it is now, on peak services on the NW line seats are full by Blacktown.

Yes, any service is a welcome addition. No need to paper over the shortcuts taken and the failures to deliver on the original plans.

It is built for you and people like you. There are plenty who have to do a similar trip every day.

Pretending it is anything else doesn't help anyone.
