The new Jacksons on George re-opened today.
Looks fab.

Jacksons on George is back and it’s nothing like the grungy CBD pub you remember
Forget the sticky carpets. It’s waiters in white jackets, sunset views from the rooftop, and a house jazz band at the three-level venue, which opens today.

After a five-year hiatus, Jacksons on George – the Sydney CBD venue affectionately known for its sticky floors and pub grub – opens today, reborn as a three-level mega venue with a glam rooftop bar, smart bistro and ground-floor public bar with tables spilling onto George Street. It’s within Lendlease’s massive Circular Quay development, Sydney Place.

It's a tricky one.
The Sharks sold a shite load of valuable land to developers. The developers have since made a motza, compared to what the Sharks sold it for. It looked a good deal at the time but Cronulla really haven't benefitted as well as they should have. On the eastern side, they didn't even leave enough space for ground improvements, which could have been written into contracts and designed with the assistance of the developers.
Considering it is a privately owned ground, they only have themselves to blame. They have no right to be putting their hand out now because of their own short sightedness.
And no, a ground with a capacity of 13 000 should NOT be getting rights to a home semi-final. That's just amateur hour on behalf of the NRL.
Given the opportunity, the Roosters would have brought that many fans on their own.

I hate the Roosters(Bankers) club with a passion, but I'm glad that the Sharks lost for bringing the game into disrepute.

What a monumental joke on the game that decision was/is. 13500 fans for a semi final that should have had over 30K in attendance. How embarrassing and totally amateurish and we wonder why and how the AFL keep eating our lunch?

Gonskiies too

Whether or not the road gets built is one thing, but I am appalled at the government kicking people out of their homes in order to build something that now has been cancelled. These people don't now get the chance to get their homes back. Disgraceful.

They are keeping the corridor for future planning.

The Jackson’s I remember wasn’t anywhere near that fancy.

Sometimes it was just fun going to an absolute shithole, the place you can get in when every other place won’t let you through the doors.

I’m sure this place is really nice. Just won’t have that same atmosphere.

I'm hearing you. I spent many a drunken night at that old shit hole.
This new place isn't the same. I agree. It's quite the new inner city classy joint.
I might enjoy a beer there on a Sunday arvo sitting in the sun and enjoying some tapas or a fancy pizza, but I doubt it will end up being the late Saturday night go to for a piss up with some mates.
I'll go to The Fortune of War or the Mercantile for that, or any number of other pubs around The Rocks.

It's a real shame that Phillips Foote has now become a fancy French establishment.
I used to love going there with mates or visitors from overseas and cooking our own steaks on their BBQ's and adding some decent all you can eat salads, and all at a reasonable price. All in The Rocks in convict architecture.

Ok well the NRL owns a hotel down at Shark Park now.

The only way that V'landys allowing the Sharks to yet again play a semifinal last weekend at that dump swamp paddock is because he is playing some sort of 3D chess game with the Government.

If he moved the game to either Parra, SFS or Olympic stadiums then the Gove would/could say that an upgrade isn't necessary and that the Sharks can simply move their bigger attended fixtures to any one of 3 modern stadiums that are already available.

But by allowing the game to go ahead, he can say that the people of the Shire deserve a better go and experience then what is currently available to them. You know, the people deserve better kind of stuff.

Also potentially adds value to any real estate holdings that the NRL may have or make in the area.

Lets see how this plays out.

I thought that place was the Edinburgh Castle or the Criterion
