Yeah any house fire we go to there is always a concern about asbestos. Although wetting it down is one if the processes in asbestos removal which is pretty much covered when you are attempting to put out a house fire

EPA are

about asbestos in fire damaged homes.

Imagine being a Triple 0 down in Canberra when they had those 1,000 Mr Fluffy ceiling loose filled homes.

Fact check required: IIRC asbestos is a mineral in the form of fibres which are bound together with glue or something. If exposed to fire, the binding materials will burn (unless also geniusant) and the asbestos fibres will remain.

Anyone ?
Sure thing Gronky boy. See the bold print in the attached image from the WA government. Your sources are about the risk of exposure post fire which is absolutely hazardous. However, I'm going to assume those that lit the fire didn't hang around for the firies to put it out and then have a picnic in there. The risk of contamination from the fibres in the smoke fumes is apparently minimal.

The Penthouse at the proposed redevelop at 2-10 Phillip street today sold for a Parramatta record of $3 million. The DA for the building only went in this week. This is the block next to the Bavarian Beer Café. This building will be taller than Altitude, the Mirvac development on the old David Jones site that is almost complete. There are still 4 other +50 storey buildings proposed and 3 x +70 storey buildings well into development and approval stages. Two, extra +50 storey buildings are already under construction.

Parramatta is going gangbusters at the moment. All we need is a decent stadium, the metro and the light rail, and we'll be brilliantly vibrant and livable city within 10 years.
The changes are going to be enormous.

Building 50+ story reisdential towers doesn't make somewhere "vibrant and livable" imo. It just turns a place into a potential ghetto in waiting.

Parramatta has always been livable and vibrant enough for most people's tastes and expectations. Time to get out/sell up now imo, before the place changes (dives?) over the next ten years.

Serious? We are just doing what European cities have done for decades, and what we should have done 30 years ago.
We are moving population nearest to transport centres and employment opportunities, and trying to keep our city compact.
f**k the 1/4 acre block. That should of gone out 3 decades ago, but our visionaries back then didn't even exist.

I can't wait for Parramatta to explode as a modern city over the next 10-15 years.
It is not just the new apartments, the light rail and the stadium that are coming... an airport on our doorstep, major corporates and government moving in, Western Sydney University growing and gaining worldwide recognition, 2 major teaching hospitals within 20 mins of the CDB and cleaning up the river to make it usable again... it is very exciting.

Pretty much how I feel as well.
Parramatta is going to become a very exciting metropolis.
It will only take 5-10 years. Not sure how many people saw the article in today's SMH about the amount of development planned for Sydney, with Parramatta leading the way, and then there was the SMH Domain article about the project I mentioned above.
Parramatta Town Square is going ahead already at a rapid pace. The new UWS building is almost complete.
To have an 80 storey building about to start there soon is incredible.
The new Riverside Powerhouse Museum, with an attached 70 story building is also an amazing structure.
As I said earlier, there are then so many other 50-70 storey buildings planned and/or under DA consideration - it is amazing.
Apartments/Hotels/Residential.

I'm happy for Parramatta that it will soon be able to breathe again after decades of having the life sucked out of it by the black hole that is Westfields.

I hope it actually works this time tound .... they have crapped on for decades about companies moving their headquarters to Parramatta and it has always failed. The only places that did it were government (ie sydney water)... others toiled with it and moved out. Sure there are some companies with an office there but they havent managed to really move out there.

The biggest problem with sydney is that 75% of white collar jobs are based in the cbd so every mofo has to commute to the same general area every day. If shit was more spread out it might help a bit.
