Are you aware that Spurs have spent the 2nd least of any team currently in the premier league over the last 10 yrs. That is if you include transfer outs - Bale -Modric - Berbatov etc. They have really done well considering this and deserved to win the premier league last season.
Chelsea and Arsenal should fight it out but Spurs will give it one hell of a shake again.

The last few years we have spent the least, fortunately we have a brilliant manager and once the new stadium is built we'll be rather well off.

Actually its more of a prescient than just a stadium with high rises, motels and shopping centres. Mind you, Bale's 100 mill helped.

The best part with this. Game day you want entertainment? You have market stalls set up. You can then charge who wants to set up stalls. Guys partners who are not interested in the footy may have their arms twisted all of a sudden. Bigger crowds.
I am looking forward to the markets that's for sure.

We? Are you referring to the Tweed Heads ChuzzWozzas?

Years ago, they played one or two ACL games there. Not sure if there was anymore.

Exactly. They never engaged Western Sydney properly, and that is why the Wanderers have a western Sydney identity, and ESFC don't. They claim to be, and always have, to be the team for all of Sydney, but they never were, and never really tried or cared.

Parramatta is going to get a decent world class stadium now. For the Wanderers, who represent the west, and for the Eels.
ESFC can go f**k themselves.

A- League thou, ok I get it. But it is like watching park footy.

Soccer is great and watching the world cup - Premier league-Spanish - Italian is fantastic. The A - league is half the quality of the English championship. Sure it is getting better but it is ordinary at present. I went to a game once. Most the fans where not even watching the game.
Yep, well said H111.

Great stadiums aren't always about capacity.
This easily has the capacity to be the best rectangular stadium in the country.
As Baz said in a round about way, sometimes stadiums can be TOO big.
So you're suddenly not pushing for 35,000 capacity anymore...?

Sydney is a big city. Pretty hard for any sports team from any code to represent the entire population.

Not excusing ESFC. It's just an observation.

Here we go again with the myth that is east vs west in the soccer.

WSW wish that Sydney FC represent the toffs in the east, yet in fact they don't. Merkins in the east don't care. Fact. Yet they continue to call Sydney ESFC in a desperate attempt to make the rivalry the working class vs the big end of town, however that situation only really exists in their own minds.

Maybe their angst is because they havn't beaten SFC for years.

The below article stems from a Roy Morgan demographic study into SFC fan base.

Membership details reveal battle lines blurred in Sydney A-League Derby

  • JANUARY 15 2016

It is the game that divides a city but the battle lines between Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers territory is far more blurred than a geographic split through the middle of town. Detailed membership data of both clubs reveals the rivalry is far from an east v west battle but one that creates hot spots of split fans, particularly in the western suburbs.

No team has attracted support as quickly, passionately and parochially as the Wanderers but according to club data, not universally within their own heartland. Behind enemy lines remain thousands of card-carrying Sydney supporters who have only grown in numbers since the inclusion of the Wanderers in the A-League. More than 2300 of Sydney members live in the greater western Sydney region, whether that be in the south-west corridor or at the foot of the mountains. In an interesting trend, it is understood to represent a significant increase in Sky Blues ticket holders in the region of approximately 14 per cent.

The statistics reveal the tag of Sydney fans being inner-city latte sippers as a gross exaggeration with the CBD and eastern suburbs representing just nine per cent of their membership base - the smallest of all five of their catchment areas. While the Wanderers have a firm footing in the west, Sydney's base is far more sporadic. Their strongholds remain the St George and Sutherland regions and the inner west of the city which together account for half of their supporters.

"We are proud that Sydney FC represents the whole of this iconic city and I think this is evident in the areas we are represented," Sydney CEO Tony Pignata said. "We have a particularly strong membership base in the south of Sydney, including the major proportion of our Junior Blues members, which makes it a key area for us. However, we have also been able to maintain and increase our membership numbers in all other areas in Sydney and beyond, including the west of the city which is pleasing."
