Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

Don't forget that this stadium is designed with the steepest stands in the country, so the majority of the noise will be projected forward, rather than backwards, where it could possibly be lost.
Except during that stupid poznan, where the simple minded among the Wanderers fans turn their back on the action.

Their noise will definitely travel backwards and be lost at the 80th minute.

Its pointless to compare this stadium to others, as this stadium is site specific. All developments are different, stadiums or otherwise. Like Suity said some are required to have an acoustic buffer and that obviously didn't apply here. They are all designed under approval conditions that are specific to this project only.

We did an entertainment complex in SE Qld last year and had to get 5,000 out of the complex on 10 minutes, very hard compared to a stadium as everyone is concentrated in one area unlike a stadium. The architect on our job had to make quiet a lot of changes to comply with the Fire Engineers Report but they dont get a say as the Fire Services override any aesthetic issues.

Thats basically how the game works.

But Twiz, certainly an indoor arena would be different? The spectators have no where else to go but out through the exits.
At least with an outdoor stadium, the playing surface is available to escape to and the roof is open to let smoke out.

The new Premier should commit to fully fund a new Parramatta Pool, regardless of who gets the top job on Monday.

That’s the message from federal Parramatta MP Julie Owens to the new Premier following the shock retirement of Mike Baird this week.

Parramatta War Memorial Pool will close on March 31 to make way for the stadium redevelopment.

Ms Owens fears City of Parramatta ratepayers will foot the majority of the bill for the new facility to be built in Parramatta.

She claimed Mr Baird has reportedly committed to funding $20 million of the $50 million marked for a new pool, leaving ratepayers to pick up the remainder of the tab.

“If the NSW government won’t listen to us and is going to tear it down, the least they can do is fully fund a new pool,” Ms Owens said.

“Ratepayers built the first pool and now we’re being asked to put our hands in our pockets again to build something we already have.”

Residents will have to travel to neighbouring pools or Lake Parramatta while the new facility is being built.

“The Lake is great for a dip but it can’t host swimming carnivals, water sports events or provide swimmers with an opportunity to train,” Ms Owens said.

Residents can sign the petition for the state government to fully fund the pool at Ms Owens’ office at 25 Smith Street, Parramatta.

Crystal Lagoon’s planned water park in Cairns could soon be replicated in Parramatta.

Man-made lake idea floated for Parramatta golf course

HOW about this crystal clear lagoon as a replacement for the soon-to-be demolished Memorial Pool?

It’s not as far-fetched as you might think with the Chilean company behind similar developments worldwide already in talks with Parramatta Council.

Crystal Lagoons Asia Pacific director German Rocca says the company could also use their patented clean-water technology to clean up Parramatta River so swimmers can jump right on in.

The first crystal lagoon was opened in 1997 in Chile but inventor Fernando Fischmann — he’s a real estate developer and biochemist — quickly realised the clean water turned brackish. He spent the next six years developing the water filtration and cleaning side of the business and since then the company has surged ahead with over 400 of the multi-hectare pools worldwide.

Taking about 12 months to build and install and costing around $700,000 a hectare, the lagoons only need filling once and then they are ready to go — and at a fraction of the price of a swim centre.

The Crystal Lagoons giant pool will be the centrepiece of a new 1000-home development in Cairns.
“You can transform existing parks,” Mr Rocca said, “and I see the lagoon as a floating canvas. You can have all sort of floating stages, different water features. And they are ideal where there has been a golf course because it’s easy to build on.”

The main site being considered by Parramatta Council for a new swimming pool and aquatic centre once the Memorial Pool closes in the next few months is the old golf course in Parramatta Park and it comes with a projected $50 million price tag and could take two years to develop.

“There’s nothing official yet,” Mr Rocca said, “but we have been talking to the council and they are really positive.

“The average pool needs a high level of chlorine and that’s not nice for people in the water and it is expensive while our patented technology uses much less chemicals and our ultrasound pulse system and monitors ensures the water is always crystal clear.”

Of course it is, like i said no 2 developments are alike, and yes you can use the playing surface as a point of assembly in the case of a fire.

Smoke venting is very important as its not the fire that kills people rather than the smoke.

I'm never said that the openings are definitely heat smoke venting which people seem to be under the impression, I gave it as an example of why architects cannot design exactly what they want if you check what I posted. I can give other examples as well.

Not being involved with that project I cannot say specifically but I have done similar heat smoke venting in open air developments a while back, a Dreamworld open air venue I think it was. I've also used heat smoke venting on large movie stages at Movie World, so I've got a pretty good idea of their requirements.

That's cool.
I wasn't questioning your explanations, GRE was.

I need to design a BBQ for the backyard. Any advice, Twiz?
I find it best to just copy someone else's design ... for example this .... it apparently has good ventilation to allow the smoke to escape .... good surface area for all your bbq meat too

hell yeh

I've been designing this prototype BBQ system,

Its a fully stainless steel 4 burner with a SS benchtop on one side and below bench single door fridge (mini bar) on the other side to keep the meat and stubbies cool. The bbq has a oven type insulated lid for roasting slow cooked bbq ribs and when open it has a range hood to catch the smoke and fats.

Above the bbq is a 65 inch TV for watching the cricket or footy while bbqing. Beside the tv is 2 huge column 700 watt speakers and a sub woofer behind the TV. There'll be another 2 wireless speakers behind you so when the cricket is finished you can blast away some Devin Townsend on Youtube.

Its would probabaly retail for arounf $15K but well worth it.

The great Aussie BBQ.

Is the new stadium a done deal as is? I didn't catch the whole thing but heard a piece of a news report last night that mentioned the new NSW govt is rethinking the stadium strategy and is possibly going to change the money allocation to each one.

I'm think ours is set in stone. Demolition has begun and the DA is in for construction.
I'm guessing it's more the funding for Allianz and ANZ that might be revised.

Gladys was the Treasurer to Baird when the numbers were crunched for the Stadium Strategy. Does not make sense that she is not on board with the concept.
