The article on the previous page mentioned that 82% of voters don't like the Government's stadium policy. That's quite telling. Any opposition leader worth their salt would try and take advantage of that and it appears that Daley has been somewhat successful recently.

Perhaps it isn’t a representative poll and maybe the question was misleading but you’ve got to think that the majority of people would prefer to see the money spent elsewhere.

I've never thought the Olympic Stadium should be totally rebuilt - I didn't think we needed 3 totally new stadiums ... but I also thought they should have considered making Parra Stadium bigger (ie bigger spend there)

But no way would me thinking any of that make me vote for that weaselly merkin who is seemingly fixated on one fair insignificant thing - probably cos there is nothing else going for him and his party

It appeared to be a non-issue for a while but he has managed to get people talking about it again.

Whether it translates into more votes remains to be seen but at the moment the Government would prefer to be talking about something else so that’s a minor victory for the Weaselly Merkin party.

I think the people who don’t want the stadium are those in regional areas and those who give no f**ks about sport. The latter group however never question a $billion budget to tart up the opera house or the new wing of the art gallery.
