Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

If they refuse to let us build the hotel because of function rooms clashing with BankWest, I would just announce that we are turning the roof of the carpark into a major function centre and hire some big marquees.,

It's pathetic that a conflict of interest with the new stadium function centre should be a reason why this development does not go ahead. Forget the heritage bullshit and the effects on the park. There's already a Leagues Club on the same heritage listed site and a 30000 seat stadium. The club are not encroaching any further on any park land.
One would think that a new hotel, which will provide much more business and security to local Parra business's would be a benefit to the local economy, particularly on all those many days of the year that the function rooms at the stadium aren't being used?

I think the claim is that the Bankwest function rooms will be used 3-4 days a week and thus the hotels rooms will encroach. Love to see their pre-bookings of function rooms with 50% occupancy. If that is true I guess they didn't care about the damage they did to places like the Novatel and Parkroyal because there is no way an extra 200 functions per annum have just magically materialised.

more functions might materialise at the stadium if the participants can stay a short stroll away .... sure they might not get all the functions, but it may still mean more

Yeh, but I was told about 3 months ago that was the reason. Maybe it was a bit longer than 3 months, but that was when I found out that Kellyville Park was going to be our COE.

Perfect spot and a great move by the club. Hills district is full of Eels supporters. Probably more then anywhere else. The gameday buses running from Rouse Hill, Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills and Dural are always packed to the rafters. I am sure you know all this already.

The fact is that space to build something like this at Parra would have been pretty limited. This is the perfect solution and will give the Eels a real presence in the HiIls which is growing enormously.

I have always scratched my head at Kellyville Park. Such a huge space but left untouched for years with the netball and Tennis courts left to die. The community deserves this space to be used. I just hope us fans will be able to access the place in some way - whether it be a gym, or the fields etc.

I am guessing this announcement has something to do with the eternity it took to do the redesign of the park. The Fairway Dr/Windsor Rd entrance still isn’t complete.
Actually on Fairway Dr maybe we can run some Politis style tournaments at Castle Hill

Just have Bernie represent the club in any bets.

He'll be far too munted to win even if he is any good at golf!

It's called competition in a capitalist society/economy ffs. We are not supposed to be a monopolistic society/economy. Since when can any organisation argue about the impact of another potential business having an adverse affect on their business be considered a credible reason to stop another legal business from competing with them, without prior contracts being signed to give the protesting business protection in the first place?

Jeez what a mouth full.

But I hope ppl get my point. It would be like one coffee shop successfully lobbing Government, to ban all other coffee shops from their immediate area. Ridiculous.

Does anyone know what the completion dates for each stage are? Are we talking significant years or just a couple?

Its probably been mentioned already but here goes.
Re Bankwest. GA tickets have an allocated seat number. Is this relevant or can we sit anywhere in the GA Section?

Didn't we decide it wasn't an actual seat number? Like, it's a seat number but means number of seats sold but doesn't correspond to seat numbers at the ground?
The members cards just have the aisle numbers (or bays) you’re meant to sit in and entrance gate. No idea what the tickets say but theres no reserved seating in these sections.

Yes, been discussed before but happy to repeat.
They only put seat numbers on GA tickets to keep track of sold ticket numbers. You can sit anywhere you want once you get there.

I like how the Leagues club says the hotel is about diversifying away from poker machines. Whatever. Every decision they make is about getting people on to poker machines. Each room in the hotel will have pokies in the toilet.
