So, the unions latest counteroffer is basically what the govt has been offering for months now.
11% / 3 years is hardly any different to 14%/ 4 years, ie, the original governments offer.
I wonder what the members think about taking part in such intensive industrial action for so long, only for the demand to effectively reach parity with the Government!?
It is good to see the RTBU finally read the room and backed down on the laughable claim 32% over 4 years.

"Rail unions’ counter-offer to the Minns government in a bitter dispute over a new wage agreement is for a pay rise of 11 per cent over three years, less than half of what they were seeking when negotiations kicked off eight months ago."

"In their counter-offer, rail unions are seeking a 4 per cent pay increase in the first year and 3.5 per cent in each of the following two years. It contrasts with the unions’ opening gambit last year for a 32 per cent pay rise over four years.

It also includes a package of over 100 conditions, which range from harmonisation of allowances for electrical and maintenance workers to improved redundancy provisions."

"While the two sides are now effectively aligned on the quantum of pay rises, a sticking point in the latest talks is the state’s request to remove a risk assessment clause inserted in the previous enterprise agreement two years ago by the previous Coalition government following a dispute over the new intercity train fleet.

The clause requires transport authorities to consult unions on risk assessments for new train fleets or major changes to rail infrastructure."

New trains announced for the WSA line.
Supplied by Siemens. Completely different layout to the M1 metro line trains supplied by Alstom.
Airport specific train layout. Wider trains for ease of access with luggage, longitudinal and lateral seating, flight arrival and departure information on screens inside the train etc...
One of the problems with the current airport line is that the trains are completely unsuitable for travellers with luggage. The vestibules are basically the only easily accessible area, otherwise it's carting luggage up or down narrow, often overcrowded stairs. Not the greatest option after a long flight.
Eventually, the AP line will need to be converted to more suitable single deck metro trains.

Anyways.....

The trains better be operating when I next come to Sydney. I want to visit the new Fish Markets. Get ya acts together if you want tourist dollars.

Absolutely love the fish scale roof design by the Danish architects.
An incredible new tourist attraction for Sydney.
The redevelopment of the old fish markets area into a busy entertainment precinct will ensure Wattle Bay becomes a must do destination for Sydney. This is a new Opera House for tourism.

Oh dear, here we go again.....

SMH have updated todays article and are reporting as of now the court case (to formally terminate PIA) will be proceeding tomorrow after talks between the union and the government “faltered”. SMH also reported that the unions formally rejected the governments offer put to them as of today.

Tomorrow (or Thursday depending on when the verdict is delivered) will be pretty high stakes. If the government loses… the RTBU will get to immediately resume PIA and begin holding us to ransom again.

Just f**king sort it out. A world class city should have world class public transport. All for employee representation, but unions need to be balanced and fair and not hold everyone to ransom.

So the government didn't accept the Union's counter-offer... which was said to be basically the same as the government's original offer? Confusing...
No it's not confusing.
There are other conditions the union are demanding, including having a say in future transport policy.
They should have no say in that.
They are shit scared of future metros, which is the only future rail that should ever be built in future.
We ain't in the 1900's now.
Minns has been fantastic in standing up to these neanderthals.
