I hope the new Fish Markets become a Sydney icon rather than a white elephant. The old markets are not a good fit with how downtown Sydney has evolved in recent years. I intend going there when and if the opportunity arises. But they better not charge me $60.00 for a decent feed of fish and chips.

The shit show around military road atm is a joke.

This new Western Harbour tunnel will do nothing to improve Military Rd.
That road will continue to be a shite fight.

What would have improved it would have been the further extension of this tunnel to Seaforth, formerly known as the Beach's Link. Unfortunately, the current govt canned it when they came to power.
It would have been an underground motorway from Narremburn to Seaforth, under Middle Harbour.

The new Fish Market will absolutely be a Sydney Icon, despite what some think on here.
Not only for the new and improved spaces, but also the actual architecture of the building and the restaurants that will be there.
The current place is not very pleasant and is old. The new place will be amazing.

Can't see how it will be a major tourist pull myself...

I can't think of one overseas city where my top ten itinerary choices would have included a fish market? So hope they haven't over-factored tourist spend into their financial modelling

I'm off to Japan soon. Checking out a fish market would be very high on my list whilst there. Id find it more interesting then seeing a temple.

I actually think I did actually see a fish market while I was there... but preferred the temples, and lots of other Japanese things tbh.
