Albo's fire sale.
Victoria Barracks in Paddington
Lancer Barracks in Parramatta

NSW

In New South Wales alone, 11 sites are on the chopping block including Randwick Barracks, Lancer Barracks, Spectacle Island, and multiple training depots at Banksmeadow, Bathurst and Penrith. Victoria Barracks Sydney, one of the city’s most historic military sites, will be wholly divested.

Victoria Barracks, which sits across a massive block of land in Sydney’s east, from Oxford St Paddington to Moore Park Drive opposite Allianz Stadium and the SCG, has been a base for national defense as far back as 1847.

VIC

Victoria is losing 15 Defence properties including Fort Queenscliff, Carlton Training Depot, St Kilda Training Depot, Sandringham Training Depot and Victoria Barracks Melbourne. Even the golf courses at HMAS Cerberus and Swan Island are being sold off.

QLD

Queensland will see nine sites go under the hammer including Kokoda Barracks, Victoria Barracks Brisbane, and rifle ranges at Atherton, Purga, Wangetti and Mount Isa. St Lucia Training Depot is also on the list.

WA

Western Australia’s property bonanza includes Irwin Barracks in Karrakatta and Leeuwin Barracks in East Fremantle – both prime Perth locations – plus rifle ranges at Coolilup and Karratha-Dampier.

TAS

Tasmania faces the biggest clear-out with 15 sites earmarked for sale, including multiple Naval Reserve training ships, training depots at Burnie, Youngtown and Bridgewater, and military training areas at Buckland and Stony Head.

SA

South Australia will lose four sites including Edinburgh Parks, Hampstead Barracks and Woodside Barracks, while Warradale Barracks faces partial divestment with some portions retained.

NT

The Northern Territory’s three sites on the block are Defence Establishment Berrimah, Kowandi North and Stokes Hill Fuel Installation.

ACT

Even the nation’s capital isn’t immune, with the Fairbairn Golf Course and Pialligo South in the ACT both up for sale.
Albo himself should be fired into the sunset. Absolute disgraceful PM.

Another great idea from our fearless leader, let’s sell off land and invite more people into the Country. Australia is far too over crowded now, but a few more won’t hurt hey.

Your a Panfers I assume from the Riff..

Wonder who ends up with Glenbrook RAAF. Just what that area needs more houses...

Also as I said before.. We are told to reduce emissions more people = more emissions.
Told to not waste water.. more people more water being used.
Our roads already suck and need repairing.. more people = more traffic more congestion.

These first two - economy demands population grows, and that's the reason we are being told to reduce our usage.
Our roads already suck and need repairing.. more people = more traffic more congestion.
This one - they simply have to have the guts to say people can do office work mostly from home (rather than ridiculous "return to the office" orders) to help a little with the roads and traffic situation.

Won't help on Saturday morning kids sports day though - that traffic's brutal 😂

Well whoever did the M2 motorway design 30 years ago from Old Windsor Road there at Seven Hills/Baulkham Hills to the Bridge needs to be put in a cannon and fired over the pacific ocean.

Honestly i don't ever remember them not working on it continually building more lanes on both sides.

If they did it correctly in the first place it wouldn't be the shit show it still is today and still paying tolls.

Has there been a period where it hasn't had roadworks.

I reckkn they do it on purpose. If roads become to efficient people will not use public transport as much.
I don't think they really care about the general western sydney person spending 60mins a day in traffic.

Thankfully, West Connex (M4 East and M8) have been built for the future, planned by the previous govt.
Parts of the M8 are 5 lanes wide and the M4 East are already 3 lanes wide.
The new Western Harbour Tunnel will also be 3 lanes wide. Currently installing the largest tunnel boring machines in the world to dig those tunnels.

A bit of foresight goes a long way when planning infrastructure for the future. Even Bradfield knew that in the 1920's.
It's no surprise that Labor built the M7 and M2 (roads of course, not rail), and they have both since been upgraded at enormous cost. Far cheaper to build them for the future in the first place than to upgrade later.

And a lot less impact to their users.

Don't forget the 2 years of testing with drivers on driverless trains.

It's already been delayed by 2 years. For what reason? An extra station at Rosehill, which was a failure?
This govt has no idea about transport infrastructure.
And please don't start on the Union demands about having drivers on driver-less trains.
That's just embarrassing.

Im fairly sure (not 100%) they do all the pipework work so can expand down the track/ more lanes a lot easier/quicker. It keeps a steady flow of work also i guess
