The Penrith proposal is basically dead in the water because it involves the sale ,of wentworth park to a private developer, doesn't it?

The Govt dismissed that option at the beginning of last week.
We have a new leader now, so who knows, but I doubt very much whether the sale of Wentworth Park will get anywhere, at this stage.

I know MITS likes ANZ and that's OK - lots of people do. There is no doubt that it would be more convenient and cheaper for him to just have the one membership as well and there's nothing wrong with that either. There would be lots of benefits in the short term for a lot of us if the Eels were to move to ANZ. One thing that concerns me though is what happened to the AFL clubs that all moved to the one stadium and then once they were locked in got screwed over. If we walk away from Parra Stadium and stuff our chance of a future upgrade we are at the mercy of ANZ.
We also run the risk of eventually losing our Leagues club to the Wanderers. How many leagues fans will continue to renew their LC memberships if they no longer go there?

I completely agree. Also part of the current upgrade arrangement already secures better training facilities for us which also counts.

Don't they control our NRL side? If so, I'd think they'd all renew to have their say.

Yep, I reckon.

If they can get Barsngaroo through without a sweat - parra stadium would be easily done. It'd not like they'd be handing public land over goof a casino

I tend to agree. If they have the will, and the money to get it done, it will be built. I just wonder whether they have either unfortunately.

No.
The Wentworth Park option was killed off before the local minister for Penrith became the Sports Minister. If he needs to find the funds and has the desire, he might not need the sale of a f**king inner city dog track to do it. His only desire is to keep his seat at the next election. He'd sell his missus if he had to.

His seat is safe as a bank.

My instincts are the Penrith stadium proposal will not happen without some type of injection of private sector money. It's just too expensive.

In fact, I think it highly unlikely the joint WSW/eels upgrade can happen without some type of private sector cash.

I might be wrong, but that's what I think. I'll believe either upgrade happens when it's actually started. I'd like to think I've got reasonable instincts on this sort of stuff.

Also, on the parra stadium upgrade - having read what upgraded would be needed to support & extra 10k getting away from the stadium?
