before anyone speaks to soon about Ash, he was quite effective in attack in the 40 minutes he was on the field last week and seems to have also picked up some lost pace over the weekend...he's definitely not a spent force yet.

Are you scared of his mum Eela?? ;-)

Ash didn't do too bad last year

against Souths he scored a 98 metre intercept try

not even Grothe or Tahu can say they did that in 2005

sh*t no!

I must admit, I'm not one to put sh*t on any player representing our club, it's not really my scene, but I will be constructive in my critisism of them and give them a wrap if they deserve it and I can honestly say based on the 40 minutes the other night he looked a better player than he has been in the last 2 years. the bloke reminds me alot of Jamie Ainscough can do some wonderful things but back them up with an awful play.

give him until atleast June before we throw him to the scrap heap I say.

btw, hello to Ash's mum if you're reading this :nwave:

so lewis is ok?

Somebody on here claimed to have spoken to him and they said Lewis said he broke his jaw. Usually a good sign a person's jaw isn't broken, is that straight after a match they are talking, and not in a hospital getting x-rays.

Moral; just like the Telegraph, don't believe everything you read.;-)

Jeremy has a niggling thigh/groin strain while Marcus should be ok for this week as far as I know.

He wasn't happy with himself for the way he played at Cabra last Friday. He is looking for a big one.

true, however there's a few guys out there that are just as bad or if not worse, and one of them is touted as the next superstar!! ;-)

Twizzle - couldn;t agree more with this:

thats what I call an experimental team

I think everyone is reading far too much into this side. Realistically - those named in this side are there either for fitness or to do something special to press for inclusion in the top 17 (or 22).

Being named in this group looks more to be a sign that you aren't cosidered a starting option for the first rounds

Re Graham: the serious injury he suffered must be taken into account. Obviously some very good judges see enormous potential. Obviously he is running out of time to fulfil it - if it happens this year - it can only be good for the club.

I don't think anyone is reading too much into it - experimental yes but as has been mentioned previously many of these players are the "new signings" for the first grade side. Given the injuries in key positions of 5/8 and hooker it could well be a pointer to who may get the nod if they don't recover. It is unlikely that they all will get a go but don't count any of them out just yet......

What I meant to say is that this is the trial within the trial. BS seems to have decided on his top group - they are the players NOT named in this side. This trial side appears to be what is sorting itself out as the second 17.

I take Colonel's point that the top group currently has some openings, and this trial side would seem to be the group fighting for those spots.

And I agree with Twizzle that it is experimental, in that guys are clearly named in positions for the trial which differ from those that they may be consdiered for selection in: eg Widders, Delaney, Mateo.

but thats the thing about Graham he's inconsistent, he might pull off a good performance one game but the next game he can have an absolute shocker. Like last year, he played alright against Penrith setting up 2 tries, then had a shocker the next game.

I would put Delaney in the 2nd row or lock. The Centre position is covered by Smith and Tahu and if they are injured, then we all know Delaney is more than capable at Centre.

Throw him into back row and see how he goes there.

BTW, I haven't heard much about John Williams name in these threads.

Is he injured or out of favour?

I don't why they are playing him at halfback its not his posy at all he is a 5/8.

That is exactly what I was thinking. They need to trial the Smiths together to see what they are like as a combo.

I'm more worried about his D then his attack.
