Souths keen on Peachey
June 21, 2005

SOUTH Sydney have expressed an interest in signing veteran Cronulla fullback David Peachey.

Sharks chief executive Steve Rogers and coach Stuart Raper are aware of Souths' interest and will meet today to discuss Peachey's future.

Rogers has also heard rumours Souths may talk with prop Jason Stevens.

Peachey's manager Daryl Mather revealed: "Souths have expressed an interest in several players, including David Peachey."

Peachey, 31, has been a 12-year stalwart at Cronulla.

"I've heard the rumblings [about Souths]," Rogers said.

"We haven't formalised anything. I will be meeting with Stuart to talk about a few players and we will also talk about David.

"I don't want to expand too much more on it."

Yeh I saw that as well this morning, I don't think he will go, I'm sure he said awhile back that he wouldn't play for another NRL club and wanted to be like ET a one club player.

I dont see him going there. He stated quite clearley he wanted to be a one club man hence the reason he wont even go to England.

It doesnt make sense really. He definately wont win a premiership at Souths. The only way i see him going there is because of money...

Well derrr!

Of course it's for cash, and as for not winning a premiership at Souths, well he's hardly going to win a premiership at the Sharks !!!!!

If Peachey played all of his career at St George he wouldn't have won a premiership either, so your point is..........??

Hands off Bunys!

Altho if that happened we have a redy made replacemint

LUKE COVELL could slot into fullback. He's so versatile the lad.

I wouldnt have anything against Peach if he did sign with them, in this case, loyalty has to go two ways, and if the sharks want to shaft him then he should leave

I like watching Presto play becaue he is so fuggen good.
Cant believe how well he plays in a Pennys team going poorly.
The trouble with the Pennys IMO is their centres & the loss of the hair bears.
Once the centres find their feet & click with a a big back rower, they will come good.

Couldn't agree more. Kind of flies in the face of Ando's if you've got two good props and a halfback you can win the comp with Steady Eddy in the backline

Totally agree.......I also still love watching Presto play and always hope he carves em up..unless playing us of course. If the sharks are too damn stupid and didrespectful to offer Peach a contract next season I would have no problem with him playing for someone else.

So what happened to Souths NOT being the retirement home for ageing footy greats wanting that one more season????

Crazy...If these blokes want one more season it should be with us, nobody else. Otherwise retire fellas. Don't do it to yourselves or the fans or the game itself.
