Pennies v warriors

Without our halves there's no guaranteed wins. Especially against Warriors where we might not have Api, Yeo, Too, Martin and Capewell backing up.

We can possibly lose the next 4 games. At full strength being cocky is reasonable. But with a few key players out or guys coming back into the team late against sides not effected by Origin at all we're not going to be close to our best. Meaning we are beatable.

Api will get very limited minutes in Origin. Martin too hasn't been getting much. So you can count those 2 in I think to back up

Warriors and Broncos make too many mistakes. They will be grinded down then strangled by our defence.

The issue is that the three games we have recently played without Cleary we have also made plenty of mistakes. And if it is close the Warriors have a few players capable of making game-altering plays in Blair and RTS. And that is before you layer on top the disruption of this week.

I think we should be favourites and can win and obviously hope we do, but to think that we are specials I don't think reflects the performances we have been putting out over the last month or the circumstances we find ourselves in.

Your user name is pretty adapt here. Cold and wet nights. We also had issues to start Roosters game too.

May is the biggest issue. Can't contribute a single thing thats needed from a half. Its insanity picking him there, actually feel sorry for the merkin

I have re-watched the Parra game and I can't see what was done differently for him to make so many tackles. No Idea why he is averaging 35 tackles at half.

If that is what they want from a 7. Then he or Kenny are really the only option

Often he is trying to play like Nathan, and it is just unnatural to him. That is why he looks so slow and clunky out there - you can literally 'SEE' him thinking. If allowed to play his own way I think you'd find significantly better performances out of him.

Our problem is that we have 2 - run first halves, neither who are organizers. I am hoping that Api takes on some of the halfback role TBH. He was doing a bit of that in the last game and it was good to see

I am not taking any game for Granted. Remember, we lost quite handily to the Tigers who are legit pathetic.

He is being heavily targeted. I would too if I were the opposition - he is a player who normally plays 15-20 minutes being asked to play 80 in a defensive position he is not accoustomed to. His team mates on that edge also have limited game time together with and without him to form the defensive combination.

His lack of lateral movement has been exposed ever since the GF. Thankfully most teams targeting him haven't done a great job of it - they are running forwads at him and he handles them well enough. I am more worried about teams who can get him one on one with a quick and agile centre or fullback.

Tigers managed to exploit him defensively. Running straight at him is stupid. He can tackle. But make him have to make decisions and get on the outside of him a bit. That's where the weakness is. Faster guys will burn him comfortably.

Burton is a rookie as far as halves go. Even the opposition that has worse defenders aren't getting that many attempts. Well Brown copped a working over

Tigers game
Mybe 16. 2 misses
Brooks made 11. 2 misses
Burton made 19. 5 misses
May 44 0 misses

Surely those guys should of been targeted as much?

Sharks game
Moylan made 13. Missed 7. 20 attempts
Johnson 14 missed 2. 16 attempts

Burton 16 and 4.
May made 21 tackles 1 missed

Parra
Moses 15. 3 misses.
Brown 40. 3 misses

Luai 15 and 6 misses
May 36 and 6 misses.

If you put Falls or Salmon there do they make as many tackles? Strange as Cleary is only ave 17 a game. Luai is 16 a game so Burton is on par with that

Yet he didn't miss a tackle in that game

Here is my guess at the team to be named tomorrow.

1. Edwards, back from injury
2. Staines
3. Critta
4. Momo
5. To'o, Naden if SOO causes problems
6. Burton
7. May, would prefer Falls but I doubt that happens
8. Leota
9. Api, Kenny if he cant back up
10. Fish
11. Kicks
12. Capewell
13. Yeo

14. Kenny
15. Sorensen
16. Leniu
17. Martin

Still a good side.

Warriors have 3 players ( Lodge, O'sullivan and Fanu-Blake) on report so they may be missing some personel for this game.

He has a better tackle % then Cleary. Ivan picks teams not to lose and that is why May will be 7 for defence
Yet Cleary is the better defensive half. His teams concede an average of 7 points and very few are scored through him. He helps his outside defenders and makes cover tackles aswell.

Ivan didn't pick him for his defence. He picked him because he's obsessed with him. May in the halves is not our best chance at winning.

It isn't like we haven't fallen apart defensively without Cleary. We conceded 4 tries in total v 2 top 4 teams. 2 of those were off kicks.

Ivan sets his sides up for defence. That is my biggest gripe with him not ruthless enough.

A side wanting to blow sides off the park brings in Falls weeks ago
