The Eels can probably end the season of our Ball and Matt’s sides this weekend. There not doing that much better than us but it has been a disappointing time for our junior rep sides.

it seems our Juniors coming through are not up to scratch.

is it because other teams are pillaging the Penrith Juniors system - so we are not necessarily getting the cream of the crop?

Our juniors have been disappointing over the last 3 yrs.Lucky our first grade squad has good depth.Theres something terribly wrong with the young sides either poor recruitment or coaching

Don't we have everyone playing up a grade? All the guns I mean

Not all but enough.

Take Ball.

Casey is in Vegas.
Edgar has played both NRL trials

The Ball fullback should be the Matts halfback

There is enough like that to affect wins into close losses which we are generally seeing

We have 5 Jersey Flegg aged guys in Vegas.
1 of those is SG Ball aged.

We have many years of domination to come don't worry.

That was mostly our Flegg side on Friday night and they more than looked up to NRL standard when the time comes.

We have kept the ones we should of, Other teams are taking those we would back fill the lower grades with

The purpose of junior teams is to produce first graders, not win competitions. The club often disadvantages the junior teams by promoting players up a grade even in the finals series, robbing teams of their best players. They play players out of position as well, to develop their all round skills.

Parramatta have won more junior comps than we have and yet here we are, more successful as a club and not fielding a team with a spine of a Tigers junior, Penrith Junior, Manly junior and a first grade squad chock full of players from outside the Eels. That was us 12 years ago with Kingston, Burns and Walsh.

The number of juniors in our teams that have won four in a row is a testament to the fact that the system has worked and hopefully will continue to work. Also note that we have lost a number of Penrith juniors to other clubs that left a bit of a hole in juniors for a year. I would say we are building that back up again now.

The hole makes sense though any Fullback, Half or lock for example you are best going.
