I'd rest all the Origin players except maybe Martin depending on his minutes. If we lose to Newcastle, who cares? It's Newcastle. They are the most flavorless team in the comp.

Spencer is our third best prop with the ceiling to become the best in the game, but Ivan doesn’t want him so for everyone’s sake let’s move him on.

High performing teams in any industry put accountability and honest feedback above all else. Spencer had a poor game, and has been put on notice. It's up to him how he responds.

Good on Ivan for having the balls to make this decision.

50/50 on it but he isn't getting the minutes he needs.

It looks like an attitude problem to me. I don't see much reason otherwise.

Agree. Huth played well last week and deserves to keep his place.

Spencer will be back; maybe even this week, as there has to be a reasonable chance Yeo doesn’t play on Sunday.

How on earth can you have a poor game in 10 minutes when the other side had the ball for all bar one full set. The one set we had we brought it back using the usual suspects before kicking on the last play. Your assertion he had a poor game given the opportunity he was given and the possession flow is beyond ridiculous.

After you sent a similar message to me last weekend I went back and rewatched the game because I respect your opinion and thought I must have missed something.

We actually had the ball for three full sets when Spencer was on, and he came off during the 4th set (about the third tackle, as Kiks was taking a hit up). Now, he definitely tackled hard so effort cannot be questioned in defence, but during the sets we had the ball he was standing out the back. What decoys he did run, weren’t done with the same vigour he usually does them at; ie he wasn’t really making himself available to receive the ball. For a team that builds its success off effort, I can see why the coaching staff did not appreciate it.

As you will have seen from other threads I am a huge fan, so I am not looking to crucify the guy. But absent some extenuating circumstances that I don’t know about, it was a level of involvement that is way down on his usual high work rate. Again, this doesn’t mean we need to flick him; he is young and had a bad game. We seem to forget because we win so much just how unusual it is for a team to be so consistent (especially in the area of effort). This is particularly true for a team that is made up and led by quite young players.

But given the performance he put in versus the performance that Huth put in over the weekend I agree with @snickers007 that a high performing team needs to reward Huth’s performance, while a message needs to be delivered that we expect more from Spencer.

Spencer gets limited minutes but atleast 1/2 of the time getting him off the field is the right call.

Eusinhuth had 48 minutes game time Significantly more opportunity to shine and do what he does best. To compare the respective performances of the two players against one another is simply flawed.

I have no issues in Eusinhuth being in the top 17 his performances are always very good in my opinion and I have said that time and time again.

So we have so send a message to a 21 year old who had but 10 minutes of on field action for not being anywhere near good enough during his short spell, without basically any opportunities to make a hit up and none of his ten tackles forced dropped balls etc.

When he gets the same opportunities as others, gets to play 30-40 minutes, and only makes half a dozen hit ups, with a couple of lost balls, minimal tackles, with half missed get back to me then and I will concur that perhaps he had a poor game.

I agree that Huth had more of an opportunity to shine and get better stats; but he did his job well.

For Spencer, I think we will need to agre to disagree on our analysis of his game last week.

I think what we do agree on though is regardless of your analysis of his game last week and whether you think his initial ‘dropping’ to the extended bench is harsh (albeit I do agree with MurrayMob he will probably be in the 17 come game time) that the kid has a big future in the game and hopefully at our club.

Regardless of if you call Spencer's last game poor or not

He needs minutes a couple of weeks in NSW Cup will do him good
Said that after last weeks game.

Wouldnt be suprised if he spends 6 to 10 games in ressies playing huge mins..

Possibly coming back in before the finals, fit and firing.

Theres no doubt he needs to work on his fitness and for whatever reasons people choose to think hes just not getting the mins in fg.

I think for his development playing 65mins in nsw cup for the next 10 weeks would do him the world of good.

Like Staines he probably won't move him on mid-season unless a swap for a like player can happen, but like Staines he should be gone end of season.

wouldn't even need 10 weeks

His issue is who gets less minutes to give him some?

Burton scored in the 57th minute

Leota then Fish come on

2 mins after Fish is on we score

Similar in the GF when May and Leinu went off we score

The club's data/Stats team pick that stuff up. While stuff like that happens then it won't change
