Sorro's nickname needs to be Optimus Prime because that rig is ridiculous.

*totally achievable for the average bloke as I rip my eighth tinnie for the night.

Interesting to see the Jennings comparison. Tago is the closest we have had to Jennings since he left, probably not quite so outstanding in attack - but his defense is better. Jennings took years to iron out his defensive problems. Jennings did start at 18 years old though.

In my opinion he has stagnated and even regressed. He used to be a dangerous runner and be an aerial threat.

He's become one dimensional and charges out of the line for the big hit and only creates a gust near the ball runner.

Maybe my expectations are misplaced.

Not at all

Capewell was marking him. As I have said before he is pretty predictive especially to a former team mate

Credit to the under strength Broncos I thought they tried really hard and the score line probably doesn’t reflect there effort. Adam Reynolds was very good for them I thought.

All in all can’t really complain 7 tries to 2, a few issues in defence out wide but Kotoni Staggs when he is on can be virtually impossible to stop.

Certainly things to work on, but a pretty professional performance our forwards were all very good.

Just having a look at the stats on NRL pretty decent really.

We ran for 2250 as opposed to there 1400 approximately.

800 PCM to 550.

9 line breaks to 2 and more offloads.

I think the performance was pretty decent all things considered.

I think I read some comments suggesting Liam Martin not at his best, I thought he was terrific, his best game of the season for me.

Had a bit of a look on Broncos HQ to see what there fans thought about tonight. No real surprises I guess although Kurt Capewell coping it, consensus seems to be is is very underwhelming in the eyes of the fans. I did notice he was very warmly embraced post game by our players and staff on the bench.

Benji Marshal made a comment that "everybody goes after you when you're the premiers". They start well and go hard, but they can't last the full 80 minutes. That is what makes us so good. We are still kick chasing and driving people back in the 79th minute.

The Broncos lifted at the start and I thought we were off a few percent. Probably mentally thinking "we only need 80% to beat the Broncos". Once they scored we changed down a gear and lifted our game. Then after Soro's brilliant try, we never looked like losing. Our back five do so much work, it gives our forwards the energy to give us quick play the balls and line bending runs.

A couple of standout players for us:
-Cleary was getting back to his best and he really was brilliant in the second half. You can see he is getting his fitness back again;
-Sorenson was just a bundle of energy and had a great game, maybe his best game in a Panthers jersey. 220m and 25 tackles. That is starting prop form in most other teams;
-Leniu was brilliant with 140m and 15 tackles in 27 minutes. Every time he got the ball it took three players to drag him down;
-Yeo delivered two try assists, two line break assists, 154m and a lazy 46 tackles and no misses. A quiet game for him.....;
-JFH casually knocks out 200m and 30 tackles. No coming off the bench and taking the easier metres when the battles has died down, he does it from minute one when the going is tough. Awe inspiring.

As for Tago, he was beaten by Staggs a few times and smashed in tackles a few times, but he just didn't give up and got his revenge at the end when he outpaced Staggs for the penalty try. The kid has ticker and will be better for the humbling by Staggs.

Just on Staggs. F*ck me, what a beast! A ball of explosive muscle that is so hard to knock over. Good on his feet and with great balance too. Don't worry about Crichton getting picked for SOO, Staggs is a better player by some distance.

Great summary as always.

Katoni Staggs has to be one centre for NSW in origin. Just a beast, can’t be left out.

Just on the Edwards sin bin, the only "correct" play for Edwards after being hit like that is to roll around on the ground like he's f**king Neymar. I don't want to see that Soccer style garbage in the NRL but intepretations like that will make acting like a bitch the only option for players in such scenarios.
Or the refs and other match officials could officiate the rules rather than outcomes.

I agree with your point though; if Dyl doesn’t retaliate nothing happens. The only way Dyl stays on the field and the Bronco is punished for his foul play (as games are officiated today) is to drop to the floor and roll around..

He’ll be in the side. Has to be. Not without his flaws but just has to be picked. Unleash the beast so to speak.
I am not sure Freddy would see it that way. We don’t necessarily need to score more points; there is enough points in NSW with tries and tested players. So we don’t need to gamble unless Freddy can trust a guy to make a difference in a big game and not go missing.

No gamble, the guy is the best centre in he game,

No need to pick fullbacks out of position. He is better than Latrelll for starters.

Dylan was rather precious, dumb play on his part. Needs to learn from that. It was dumb. Doesn’t take away from an otherwise outstanding performance tonight. Aside from his usual metres, some of his takes of the high ball under pressure were amazing. Has he gone thru the 1,000 metre barrier yet, must be close. Only six games in but he seemed to run for almost 200 tonight even allowing for his sin bin and was brought off towards the end.

I don’t disagree on his day. Been amazing the past two weeks.

How the rugby league wheel turns. When I was a kid centre was the glamour position team and NSW always picked 4 centres and put two on the wing (O’Connor was always picked on the wing, I think ET played a number of games there too; they were two amazing players though). Nowadays it the other way around; centres are so importantly defensively the glamour element of it has been diminished.
