Disagree. Most people who go right to the end of the lane are just trying to skip other cars, and often merge suddenly after overtaking on the left. Very dangerous. If there's a gap, merge early. If not, hope you don't get one of those merkins who won't let you in.

Tends to be because the dickheads in the lane won't let them in. A bigger issue is people who merge at 20-30 under the limit. Absolutely sucks when you get caught behind someone doing this.

The merge law is stupid. Should be whoever is in front has right of way. Instead, this only applies when there is no broken line. As it stands, the law essentially says that you should come to a stop and wait until the road is clear. Complete nonsense.

It seriously rustles my jimmies. Must be 10 times worse in a truck. As soon as I'm on a merge ramp, I gun it, as I had rammed into by my driving instructor. Surely other people were taught this too?

Early merging causes traffic jams. This is what brings traffic to a halt.

Get up to speed and make use of the space. If merkins wont let you in then they are at fault. Get up to speed and only idiots cannot merge easily - from either perspective.

Nothing worse than some merkin who could take any number of gaps and get the merge out of the way early, but goes right to the end of the lane and has to squeeze in slowing everyone down.

In heavy traffic, if everyone goes to the end it is simply a one-to-one merge. If idiots merge early then the flow of the traffic is f**ked, eventually bringing things to a halt. Notice how things move again after the merge point. The problem is not people who go to the end of the lane - the space is there to use - it is people who just choose to merge anywhere. As soon as someone applies the brakes to pull in sharply you know they are a fool. Drive around them.
