I heard Perth paid that for origin. Thats not a great deal for Gf which is arguably more valuable as a sports tourist event.NSW secure grand final hosting rights with mammoth $10m 12-month deal

Tell Foxtel they can have origin for 50 mill PA , then they can sell the FTA section to the highest bidder
all NRL/W FTA rights are worth 130 mill PA
done
They could sign a deal with fox for the streaming rights then find a fta operator separatelyFoxtel cannot legally have sole TV rights for State of Origin matches. Anti-siphoning provisions specifically lists State of Origin and NRL Grand Finals as having to be on FTA. Hence they can't sell that to Foxtel and then work out the FTA component for those matches.

you'd get more travelling fans. They reckon there was around 15-20k fans travelled for origin to perth. there'd be a lot more travel to see their club in a GF. ergo value is worth more to a hosting city. You are getting less neutrals to a GF, The fact it matched Origin is a great deal
You are a first class dope.you'd get more travelling fans. They reckon there was around 15-20k fans travelled for origin to perth. there'd be a lot more travel to see their club in a GF. ergo value is worth more to a hosting city.
You are a first class dope.
The teams for origin are known, so those wanting to go plan their trip for Perth.
The teams for the GF are only known the weekend before the game. Is a cowboys fan, for instance going to book a trip to Perth to watch a grand final not knowing their team is in it? Only if they're as dumb as you.
You guys are exaggerating it
fans would travel maybe less than origin but still in large numbers
Unless you are talking about something else, the Monday after the GF is a public holiday in QLD (Kings Birthday)Not really, remember The Monday isn't a public Holiday in QLD.

It’s a grand finalNot really, remember The Monday isn't a public Holiday in QLD.
Very few fans can drop $5-10k the week before the game. Let alone get the Monday off work. That also assumes they can get on a flight over
It used to be Labour Day, but the QLD Govt swapped it with Queens/Birthday a few years back after some lobbying from Unions etc.We had it in June here. That is why Labor Day didn't show when I looked
