It was already leased prior to the NRL purchasing ithe property. So Id put the house on it being the case..

Its max 71 rooms - This isnt a big Hotel. NRL Patronage wont affect this as much as you believe. And Ive said repeatedly, its still going to be a contributer, just not a major one over the course of a financial year
Another poster commented how funny it would be if the nrl bought the ground then sold it for developers making the sharks move

My response was that was unlikely given the hotel they own next to the ground would lose value if that happened

Why would it lose value? It's a football field. It's not like any developers are going to lay concrete over Cronulla beach.

I've never met anyone who has booked a hotel room so that they get a view of a football field.

Panthers have 2 hotels on site,
Most clubs stay elsewhere.
Homebush hotels should never be booked for GF as Melbourne found out.

Being walking distance to a beach is what makes that Hotel a good choice, Not the NRL being up the road

I wouldn't say walking distance. It's at least 1km away from a beach. Maybe more.

It wouldn't make sense, especially a tinpot stadium like Shark Park.

It would be hilarious to buy it, then sell it off and force the Sharks to play in a modern stadium elsewhere, though!
I like the sound of the Central Coast Sharks....could be a winner.

In terms of the hotel at Shark Park, Sydney based sides won't stay there. Players of those clubs would rather sleep in their own beds.

As to inter=state and overseas teams, the issue I'd suggest is the drive time from Kingfsord Smith airport. Add in that there is not a lot to do within walking distance, all up I'd sugest are probably a dis-incentive to them wanting to stay there.

They will be more interested in a view of Botany Bay and somewhere to walk their dog

whats it cost to put up an NRL team? around $7k a night? Hardly big bikkies. Nor is suggesting NRL wouldnt want want to lose games at shark park due to the hotel business. Presumably it is running at 70-80% occupancy on non game days so in reality a game might fill around 15-20 rooms extra for 12 days. 240 bookings max at $300 a room = $72k revenue in a year. Wow lol.

Oh dear... That is 100% walking distance - Is 1km really too far to walk? (I apologise if you have some kind of injury)

Yeah, I guess but there are thousands of rooms at the beach. Nobody is going to this hotel for the beach. I'm not sure what there is to do there as it's basically on the fringe of the industrial area. Maybe someone can fill us in.

It’s a short drive to the shops

Probably cheaper than stuff on the beach so people on a budget

For a start there aren’t thousands of rooms at the beach. There are two hotels there of any standard and, apart from this one, the rest are 3 star across the shire. It’s in a great location next to the ground, next to the shopping centre, walkways etc and, assuming you have a car, it’s one minute from the beach. It’s also close to the train station. I’m not sure why this hotel is getting all this negative attention. It’s a ripper.

It's not getting negative attention, the majority of us have stated that the NRL have invested in it because it's in a great location and will have broad appeal to all types of people.

It's @Wb1234 who seems to think that it's entire operation is predicated on the 8 or home games the Sharks have every year. To be clear, he thinks that without the Sharks stadium, this hotel is a dud.

I said the hotel would lose value if they sold the ground

You couldn’t even remember the nrl had bought a hotel next to the ground when you were saying they would buy the stadium and move the sharks elsewhere

It’s getting some criticism about its location and that’s what I addressed. The rest I agree with.

It'd only lose around $70k revenue a year at best. Its not a decision maker.
