You're happy to pay more for the same service?

"Let's grow the game... By increasing the cost barrier to enjoy it".

“Entry”.

Entry is seeing one game (FTA), seeing every game every week would be “the barrier to obsession”.

this is t a change, we have had the barrier when everything was lpcked away on Fox for $100/ month. And before that, there was no broadcast at all.

Had to look this up to confirm but yes it certainly seems he is an AFL player. I don’t like it.
I’m the opposite, I like it. Just like I’d hate it if an ex-nrl player went to afl. im hopeful it sends a message That touch is a sport for all, not just “league buffoons” Or people who have grown up in eastern states. From someone living in SA, I think it’s such a great gateway game to open the possibility of nrl support. My two cents.

That is the concern

Ch9 and other FTA are pushing for exclusive games. Get an extra on FTA 9 games should have atleast 4 FTA a week.

Hopefully that brings an increase without having to add a 2nd pay service
if another $10-$20 per month is going to blow your budget. Reconsider your life choices to be honest.

Do the NRL own Touch and Tag and why have an AFL guy in top postion ?
They don't own OzTag yet.

Yep and look at how the ratings have grown since Kayo started. The game isn't more popular now then before

Unlikely to be more FTA games. That is the one area where the AFL still out rates NRL (Thurs/Fri nights the AFL is around 20% up). Not sure if it because Nrl has a younger demographic, but if PVL want to get close to or surpass the AFL’s deal, the extra money needs to come from streaming or Foxtel.

Pay tv provides 80 percent of the tv deals value

Even so with origin nine is paying huge unders. Afl fta ratings have been poor this year.

Hence the reason FTA wants exclusive games. In theory you are adding the 300k that Fox pulls on these games.

You can easily go to advertisers and say NRL will draw 1.5m people.

As opposed to now where at times 1m is a push, that extra Ad space is valuable, How valuable we will see when we get numbers leaked to media

When comparing the 2. Remember AFL does and has had for a while extra FTA games a week and until now has exclusive games into certain markets.

No reason why NRL FTA can't be worth $50m extra in the next deal ( of course the season makeup is key ).

Depending on how it ends up it could be a lot more than $10-20 a month extra. You can currently get every game on Kayo for $21 a month through a digital club membership. And even at that price half of the NRL fanbase wont pay it and watches on FTA instead.

Moving to two of the main streaming services, which would presumably require you to buy a premium service could be up to $60+ a month.

1/12th of the country has Kayo. Not all are RL fans, by the same token very few have it just for RL.
The cricket ratings are proof of that.

He`s a professional and his fumbles past shouldn`t affect his work. I noticed that one of the women plays fumbles masters. The other two are dyed-in-the-wool Leaguies.
Maybe they`re bringing in people with a fumble past because of the push into non-League states, they may be able to open doors or offer insights.

Touch really is the key to national RL dominance! When you look at how many registered players there are in every state and territory its insane. Id change the name to rugby league touch. At moment it still doesn't seem to have a lot of correlation to rugby league in non RL states and isnt driving touch players to follow RL more broadly. Its the vehicle for RL into schools and other nations in Asia.

It’s literally branded “NRL Touch Football”
