Surely it is racing he will quit. He seems to like a scrap and he seems to like having a bit of celebrity (maybe that is not the right word). Literally nobody knew him when he was only head of racing because nobody cares about horse racing. He still has a lot of work to do with RL. I’d give him more money and more power.
Racing pays him millions we pay him 150k
With a record tv deal he has done everything he set out to do
As was shown with the Brisbane stadium debacle outside him nobody else has a clue about the big picture things or the ability to get all the stakeholders on board
If he leaves expansion will stop at 20 teams
If he becomes full time there’s not much need for Andrew abdo
He operates as the face of the game already
People are over stating PVL. Sure, he is the chairman, and regularly finds himself in the media spotlight. But there is Abdo, the CEO and the rest of the independent commission.
It does come across that PVL is the only one who is running the game and therefore he has to fix everything. Whether it's expansion, tv rights or stadium upgrades. Abdo and members of the independent commission should all be involved in those issues.
Abdo and PVL have been leaders for the last five years. They do compliment each other. One is quiet, the other not so quiet. But people shouldn't forget the members of independent commission- ARLC.
Chairman- Peter V'Landys
Peter Beattie, Prof. Megan Davies, Wayne Pearce, Dr. Gary Weiss, Tony McGrath, Kate Jones and Alan Sullivan KC.
there will be plenty to do with getting Perth, but particularly PNG up and running …
Also 20 teams is where expansion will stop anyway whether he is there or not..
I can see NAS as their marquee signing already. They can build a players compound at Kuta Beach. Not sure if expansion stops, a png team means we'll be in Bali next apparently.
