Who cares. Team 20 isn't going to be looked at for years.
The NRL wanted Perth and the Bears because it was the most favorable for the TV deal. PNG 600 million in a country of 11 million.
Those teams need time to bed in.

The Warriors play ANZAC day game in Wellington this year, then play at the brand new Te kah in Christchurch as well, following year they have SOO in Auckland and just today announced that Origin eligible players can also represent NZ.
NZ TV deal is also coming up..

Lots of water to flow under the bridge before team 20. PVL will likely talk up a Brisbane team and that might happen, which will be good! But an Ipswich franchise may also be used to drive up the cost of a bid for NZ which will be better.

The game is going international and the more footprint it has, the better it will be for international streaming rights.

All good brother … time will tell … not sure of the relevance to what the Warriors are doing … they are the biggest critics of another team in NZ …

The Broncos were successful, then you get the Cowboys, Titans, Dolphins.

The Warriors sold out Christchurch in 5 days for a game that is 5 months away..
That's the Broncos in Townsville before the Cowboys.

Shows there's an overwhelming demand for more NRL in NZ.

The Warriors are saying give it another 10-15 years

I do think it’s very short sighted of them

Broncos didn't want another team either in that market and the whole Gold Coast and SQ Crushers were crushed, then a fair few years down the track we got the Titans and then the Dolphins, and it hasn't impacted the Broncos at all who are still the hottest ticket in town.

I understand for the Warriors that they want to monopolise all the support themselves, but the bigger pictures says that having 2 teams serving that region will only see both grow even bigger and it's not like they aren't serving different markets in that country. Auckland vs the rest of NZ is just as popular as ever.

More likely to have an AFL wanderers team. Can play in Canberra, Darwin, Cairns and wherever else they want to plant a flag. Or maybe the Giants can just move to Canberra full time.
Any team in any sport won't be able to build a fan base of any note if they they constantly change venues in a season.
If GWS move to Canberra full time that signals that the AFL have admiited defeat in it's battle to win a fan base of any note from that Western Sydney.
If they don't put a team in Canberra that signals that they have no interest in the ACT and the NRL will exploit that.
A 3rd team in WA would affect the 2 AFL teams that play there at the moment, and also with the Perth Bears playing there it will attract fans from both the AFL clubs, perhaps not much, but it will.

GWS will move to Canberra eventually

It’s not working at Homebush but the act govt loves afl and will do whatever for that team

I was joking. No way the AFL moves where GWS are based. They are in that for the long haul. Long may they drain the AFL's finances, same with the Suns. and probably Tassie now they are going to join.

They will use VIC teams that are struggling like Demons and Kangaroos to play those Darwin/Cairns type venues to try and get a foot in other markets.

I've stopped caring what AFL does anymore, cause as time goes on, NRL seems to be winning this war year by year with only further growth to come, while AFL seems tapped out on that front.
