Who funds PNG Hunters? Oh that's right the Australian govt. Perth wasn't being funded like that. Once they took News Ltd money, they were stuffed when the game was in all sorts. Especially given the condition to fund everybody's travel to Perth.

PNG has rich guaranteed backer. Perth didn't and that's why it fell over. NRL currently owns Perth. Still looking for backer.

NRL also own PNG and after 10 years they will look to equally sell off the franchise.

Your argument that something failed 30 years ago so its likely to fail again has no legs. because if you believe that then queensland should have no more than 2 teams because last time they had 4, two of those teams failed as well.

Lol, got bullet because it was money pit that even news didn't want to fund.

lol - the whole game was a money pit in those days to the tune of hundreds of millions thrown into it by News and the ARL

They were broke like many others … they should have been propped up at the time…- a big mistake was made in hindsight…

The Gold Coast, Souffs and Brisbane 2 didn’t survive either but are now back … whilst several others remain dead

If they offered Perth to the highest bidder at the time, the guy who owns Cash Convertors would have been all over it. But News Ltd didn't.

I lived through that period. The situation for the game changed daily. And comprises were made to allow certain teams to remain. It was all about strengthening the support of what was left of the game. Perth didn't have a real history and high costs associated with it, which is why it became a victim in the war.

They failed. Accept it. Cash Converter guy couldn't round get enough investors last year and NRL created their own club. At this point in time we can say PNG has more independent backing than Perth (and all other NRL clubs really).

And by independent, you mean the Australian Federal Govt which is as independent as they come.

Nope. I'm not going to argue things I never said.
so you instead choose to ignore facts and things which are interchangeable? lol
ok, didn't take you for being that much of a dimwit but if thats what you are then thats what you are

you know whats worse? perth can maybe use the whole flights and accom overheads as part of the reason they failed. crushers didnt have any of those overheads and had a leagues club with pokies and still failed.. which one is worse?

Seperate from NRL. Despite talk of many unnamed businessmen Perth couldn't gain that.

I'm looking forward to the prime ministers XIII against a team that the prime minister is funding.

As for Perth. Might have something to do with wanting a licence fee, which they didn't believe was worth it by the time the NRL decided that they would expand the comp.

While PNG didn't pay any licence fee, only needed the Aus Fed Govt to fund the hell out of it for diplomacy reasons.

it was killed off - By News Ltd. at a time when they had to get from 22 teams to 14 …they didn’t literally shoot them though ..:. That was a figure of speech
