Red just exaggerates when Pvl was over for the Perth bears announcement he was fan girling him thanking him for giving Perth a club again

there are two versions of him … the calm NRL fan I’ve heard on a couple of Bears podcasts … and then there is the lunatic hater we see posting here

Im not pro or anti PVL just want the game to be the best it can be and as a player and supporter since I was 4 , I think it is the greatest game of all. But he has definitely made a few mistakes such as the rushed tv deal extension during COVID but he has also done a lot of good things and talks up the game

Reddit has a bad hivemind mentality. It could be 40%-60% on an issue, but you will only see the 60% opinion having visability. Once an issue is decided you rarely see the opposite opinion. I would also say the fans on reddit are slightly more casual fans. Whereas the fans here, on the NRL forum specifically are more fans of the game overall. Lots having been here through years of stagnation. Seeing movement in crowds and TV Ratings are a relief after that period and would get them singing the praises of whichever person was in charge.

Lol it's no different here. It's the same few people posting in every thread who abuse anyone who doesn't worship PVL. It has only changed this season because of how bad the games are. Look at basically any thread the last few years and it was like Jonestown.

Looking at that dragons hip drop I think the NRL needs to take over tackling techniques. The defensive coaches are these random unknowns like a dude name Moa for Parramatta.
Appoint an NRL tackling coach and release technique videos like the NFL does and offer awards each week for good technique and so on.

Nrl reddit is younger

there were people on there who didn’t know what the super league war was

and one of the mods has a visceral hatred of Pvl and his fanboys on there just ape him

even when he expands the comp or when Vegas does well
Yeah reddit is a place that I wouldn't put in the same sentence as certain words. One of them being balanced.

2008 NRL Avg: 15591 NRL Aggregate: 2993469
2019 NRL Avg: 15030 NRL Aggregate: 2885693

11 years of stagnation/decline.

2025 NRL Avg: 21046 NRL Aggregate: 42954564
40% % 49% growth respectively.

For comparison: AFL: 0% & 10%.

GWS/Suns did a real number on AFL average attendance, but NRL attendance growth has been nothing short of amazing since coming back from COVID

NRL and AFL aggregates since Superleague.pngNRL Ave and AFL Ave Attendance since Superleague.png

From my limited time on reddit, it seems most people hate him.

Reddit has the same credentials to speak on anything as what the monsters who raped/murdered Anita Cobby have to talk about how to treat nurses

Everyone seems to agree that last year, the rules were just about spot on (give or take the odd random disrupter decision). I don’t see why they needed further change.

With a move back to last years rules, then think there’s just a few tweaks;

- Foul play (head high etc) can only be picked up on a challenge if it’s reportable
- Stop banning players for innocuous and accidental ‘dangerous contact’ (see Nikorima this week)
- Sack the disrupter off completely, but have the balls to penalise players who make contact with the catcher without making a genuine play for the ball…. If they wanna wave their arms around in front of the catcher, or baulk at catching the bomb to put off the catcher, so what… play on, but the moment they physically impede the catcher, by either touching them, or taking up a blocking position with no intent to catch the ball, then penalise them
- Penalise and sin-bin teams for giving away 6-agains on purpose - have the bottle to make a judgement call, it’s obvious when they’re given away on purpose. Just because it’s no longer a penalty, doesn’t stop it being a professional foul.

One of the big challenges the game faces is that the size, strength and speed of the players is making it very difficult to make effective 1 on 1 or even 2 on 1 tackles, and still ‘win the floor’. Throw in the whole CTE/concussion piece, which stops players tackling at chest/shoulder high (for risk of head contact), and also stops players from going low (for risk of knocking themselves out - coupled with the fact the opposition will then get a quick ptb) and we’ve narrowed the ‘safe’ tackle margin right down to the mid-rif, but a mid-rif tackle will see you potentially get trampled and have to cling on, and then your body will land on their legs, so then it’s a ‘hip drop’….. so the only ‘safe’ tackle is a gang tackle…. And then we’re back to slowing the ruck….

"Win the floor" is interesting terminology. Where did you hear this or did you come up with it?
