Hyperthetically and here say talk only ...at this stage

Contract expires at the Panthers this year, has an option for an additional year, which Im sure penrith want him to extend. Now Petero is a big Matt Elliot fan, If Elliot does get the flick (has 10 rds to prove his worth, not looking good so far), Petero may not want to extend

Read Petero or his manager said he wants to play for another 2-3 years

Question is, If the opportunity is there, Do we go hard for him? He wouldnt have to move house as he is just up the road so to speak

No doubt we will have to sacrifice 2-3 players in our top 25 to secure him. But would he be worth it? Would he bring a professional go forward culture to our younger props, that will serve us really well over the next decade, long after Petero has retired?

Thoughts?

I've been wishing we would buy a good prop for a couple years, not many better, coming to the end of his carrer but would still be a top asset.

He rejected a 400k offer from the Broncos cause he thought he was worth more... he will not come cheap and he'll be 34 next year too. I'd rather re-sign Fuifui for a lot less.

Both Petero and Luke Bailey would be brilliant signings.

However, perhaps Daniel Anderson sees things differently.

I dont think we could afford another 350K player. We already have 3 of them.(Hayne, Cayless, Hindmarsh) Maybe off load Finch...but that's about it. Dave Taylor might prove to be cheaper.

A hypothetical: off load Finch, Talima Tautai & Lowrie and you have atleast 400K. So maybe we could afford Petero?? I guess it would come down to how badly we need him / want him.

I'd prefer to chase a player like Luke Stuart or Jesse Royal over Petero. A year or two more left in Stuart and a few more in Royal whereas Petero won't play much more than one more year. $350,000+ for a one year player is big bickies....

The flip side is I'd also look at some younger players who may have a longer future like Dan Hunt at the Dragons, Leeson Ah Mau at the Warriors who has Packer, Price and Rapira in front of him......

Pretty sure Royal is the same age if not older than Bailey - late starter

DT would be AWESOME.
And in reply to Barney Gumble , is Issac Luke an option 9if available) - some of the passes he laid on yersterday v Knights were something special, as well as his darts from dummy half

He's not available. Souths re-signed him for a few years last year.
