Peyton Manning to the Jets?

If Manning gets cut, which he might if they cant restructure his contract, a lot of teams will suddenly get interested.
Seattle would to me make plenty of sense, away from the colts, away from eli, small market team, weak division, good team to work behind

There are so many ways this thing could go.

This whole manning situation is worth the off season alone

latest reports say he's not sure if he'll ever play. Wouldnt surprise me, 3 neck surgeries, he's got a post football life to think about.

I said somewhere on here that I am leaning toward Peyton retiring. Two reasons in short is his long term health concern and the fact I think he couldn't play in another team's jersey if he was cut or traded.

He can't be traded he can only be released.

If traded the entire $26m bonus is counted against Indy. No way they take that hit.

IMO he either goes to Miami, Redskins or he retires.

Even though i would hate it but The Redskins should chase Manning hard, The Skins have a shocking habit of signing over the hill vets but i think Manning has a few years left in him and they could really build a good team around him and try and groom a young QB to take over like the Packers did with Favre and Rodgers.

If he agrees to restructure the deal and knock back the timing of the 26 mil bonus he can be traded. Also even if they pay the bonus and then trade it, it might involve some money heading back to indy, the skins tried to do the same with Fat Albert

Whether either of those two scenarios is likely to occur is another matter, but there are options for the colts to persue if they dont want to straight up cut him.

...i just dont see him coming back tbh.

3 neck surgeries....he's old...would be starting again.

and. what does he have to prove?

won a superbowl
multiple MVP
all time great QB

plus he's good in the media. i would pull up stumps if i was manning TBH.

According to Brandt on twitter who is pretty good at this stuff even if they restructure it they'll have a lot to absorb.

And I don't think Peyton would do it just to be trade bait. If he leaves I think the last thing he'd want to do is help the Colts by getting picks for him.

interesting, i hadnt seen that
i agree, i dont see Manning restructuring it just to help the trade, so if he is traded which under this scenario seems unlikely, it will be the colts absorbing the bonus and then trying to get his next employer to reimburse them on the bonus... good luck!

I think his bonus is due march 8, so we'll know within a month or so i guess

Manning says he wants it sorted sooner rather than later, so we may have some questions answered the week of the SB.

I'd imagine if Manning doesn't retire and the Colts let him go, his next team would want him signed before the draft.

I guess the fear is if Manning does play on is that he'll be a shadow of his former self. Just hope he makes the right decision. Nothing worse than seeing a champion play for one season too many to prove a point that he's still got it only to find out the game has caught up with him. Big injury to come back from.

I saw some film of Manning today from a client who loves the guy. With Eli winning, I sincerely hope Peyton can make it back on the field. I'd really hate to see him leave the game via injury. Seeing a healthy Peyton for another few seasons is atop my off-season wish list.

Hope Peyton plays for an AFC team next season. I really want the possibility of an all Manning SB alive. Although if P. manning ends up playing for the Jets, I'll have to cheer for Eli.

Was just listenting to the lates BS report, and am really starting to wonder if Peyton will play again.
I know he's been medically cleared, but if he can't throw properly, then he's useless to anyone.

He's not going to quite the same, but if he's not even close, hope he does retire as a Colt.

I said as much on page five in this thread. I really want him to return, I'd love him to be successful again on the field though I think it's highly likely that he will be forced in to retirement by this injury. I hope I am wrong.

i think manning comes back, and i think he comes back a shadow of his former self, which will be really sad

id love to see manning back at his best, but short of that, id prefer to see him retire than sully his reputation with a bad 2 year stint with another side
