Tell you what.....Gus is doing a great job for someone who makes comments on the
game for his living....he's generated 5 pages on here.

I hope Willow doesn't catch that disease just by residing there. He's already got the white shoes, I believe. ;-)

If Gasnier's the best centre Gus has seen, then why didn't he select him for NSW in 2002-2003?? I'm pretty sure he wasn't injured for all 6 games. He went on the Roo tour in 2001, so he was obviously allready an established player. Gus didn't pick him. I remember guys like Shaun Timmins & Matt Gidley being picked ahead of him.

He said he's the best he's EVER seen. If that's the case, then surely he saw the outstanding potential at that time and at least gave him a run in origin.

It's cos he was playing sh*t back then. Gus while being a good guy (I have met him briefly) needs to refrain making these big sweeping statements!!!

The best centre i've ever seen never played sh*t for 2 years straight. His name is Malcolm Meninga who captained Australia from centre until he ws 34.

From what I can make out, you don't "just give a run" to a player in origin. It's the highest grade Rugby League in the world, you don't muck around with selections on potential, you pick what you think is the best combination at the time. When you select "willy-nilly" you get "The Phillip Duke Syndrome".

Yes, Mal did get picked from center until he was 34, and then turned around, after being "gifted" his last tour, to say "What has Rugby League ever done for me??"
OUTSTANDING !!!

I’d take Mal Meninga any day of the week over Mark Gasnier. I’d take Steve Renouf, Steve Rogers, Mick Cronin or Gene Miles any day before I’d pick Mark Gasnier as the best centre I’ve ever seen.
I was at the second test in Manchester in 1994. I was sitting next to this load mouthed women who kept putting sh*t on Mal. That was until he intercepted a ball and put ET in for a try. As for being gifted the 1994 Tour, I’d bet Jarrod McCracken would not agree with that statement, the way he was pushed off like a little boy by Mal in the 1994 Grand Final.

Isnt it just Phil's opinion?

Is he not allowed to have one? Or is it more a case that his opinion should be closer to yours?

I can't see the relevance of a grand final palm off to a Kangaroo tour, and I really don't care much what Jarrod McCracken's thoughts are, he doesn't post here!!!

I don’t see the relevance of your gifted comment. But then again, throw in a bitchy super league comment to dress it up

The "gifted" comment came as we were talking about selection modes before you waltzed in. As far as the other thing goes, I've always been told to never speak ill of the dead.

Sorry, I didn't know I needed your permission to make a comment. The gifted comment was a load of sh*t.
I don’t mind the current Super League competition, (which is referred as the NRL) we play in,

You tell them scrotum, you know the wrinkles.
Yah, I know. We weren’t loyal to Easts, Manly, PBL and Optus. What a cross to bear. I guess that is something we will have to live with for ever,
