One on one, Gasnier is, over a long period, the best. He was the best Aussie back in the centenary test. Hodges went MIA.

What a sentence! You say "over a long period of time" and then mention Gasnier playing well in one game ... ? Hodges MIA in one game. A game which Hodges went into with a shoulder injury, so bad he had needles and it was touch and go whether he'd play ... pretty harsh call.

Does Gasnier's quality over a long period of time include last year? Most people with the privilege of having two eyes and a brain would conclude that Hodges has excelled in far greater proportions than Gasnier.

As for the players inside and out ... it doesn't matter to Hodges. He goes well with or without. Last year when Lockyer and Hunt got injured and we had Shane Perry back in the No. 7, he made breaks from nothing three-four times a game and led and lifted the Broncos attack. I don't see those qualities in Gasnier only 'shimmy whoosh'.

Gus is entitled to his opinion. And he may be right.

Meninga was only hot 3 years either side of his broken arm. By 94 he was way past it. Mary Mcgregor owned him in origin that year. Meninga was 34. Cronin at 34 was twice the player Meninga was.

As for Renouf, Cronin, Rogers et al - they played with gret sides. Cronin played outside kenny and Sterlo, and inside Grothe. Renouf only shone when Walters was inside him. Look who Gasnier has had to play with recently. Jamie Soward LOL. Only ET shone with poor clubs

Last year, Tahu had the best centre's season in the last 20 years. Second was Lyon in 01. But overall, unlike them, I can't recall Gaz having a bad year, even when Saints have.

As for Souths....who was your best? did Joe Squadrito play centres?

You idiot.

Do some research for once you idiot. Gasnier was injured pretty much all of last year. For f*ck sake, how is he going to out-play Hodges from the sidelines??

Watch Gasnier play before you spout your usual Qld-biased tripe.

Who cares if he says Gasnier is the best, it is only an opinion and he is entitled to it. Can not believe some get upset about it.

You're the one who said Gasnier had played better than Hodges over the long term ... which included last year. I didn't say that one.

And your biased NSW tripe is just as bad as my biased Qld tripe.

I've read so many posts even from St George supporters that Gasnier only touches the ball once or twice a game. He waits for the ball. This is a regular occurrence apparently - just look at the posts.

Hodges makes things happen. He goes looking for action and the ball and usually makes something happen. That's the big difference.

Dude, ask yourself this.

Who are the best 3 centres you have ever seen?

Every one has different views on what they like in players, on his day Gasnier is definately up there. I personally prefer him over someone like Mal, however that does not mean Mal was not great player I just prefer Gasniers style of play more.

That 'shimmy whoosh' seemed to work a treat last night.

Gould should do something he is good at either retire or go back to coaching. HE SHOULD NOT COMMENTATE. I hate listening to people talk who don't think before they open their big mouth's. His brazenly stated opinions are best kept inward on this or many other topics.

So commentators shouldn't have opinions different to yours?
