If he came here, which will never happen the boys club would be cleaned out very quickly

Years ago I would have said chase Gus hard.

Over the last couple of years I feel he his sacking of Cleary, appointment and sacking of Griffin and reappointment of Cleary has left me feeling Gus is past it.

Still better than our lot.

May be worth chasing him in the hope that he puts the epsom salts through our mob.

We need a clean out of the old boys club, but it must start at Board level.

How do you clear out the old boys when the old boys are the ones that have complete control?

Pretty well documented that he didn't want to re-sign Cleary. He had Bennett ready to go for this year.

The boys club reaches right up into the board of management. Gould would have to be on the SGI Board as the 'Director of Football' most probably takeing Craig Young's seat; do you thing that this would ever happen?

Yes please. Find him a job. Bring his influence and knowledge to the Dragons. Love him or hate him he knows his sh_t. Problem is I doubt we could afford him. Watch him get snapped up (if he wants it).
Yep he’d be good at the dragons a succession of 5 year plans should have us primed for a shot at the title in 20years lol

And you can say that after putting up with Mary's 5 year old game plan that fails every year.

Maybe Gould could teach Mary a plan B. And give the rest of management KPI's that they will be accountable for.

Gould's fate was sealed once the Penrith's chairman chose to appoint Cleary as coach and ignore the move by Gould to secure Bennett. It was as deliberate as sacking him.
If Gould came to SGI as GM of football he would want clear and unfettered control. Noting that Bennett advised Doust that he did not want any interference at a board or ceo level in the undertaking of his job, he said that Doust kept his word and never once interfered. Reasonable to assume Millward and McGregor would report directly to Gould, the board would assumedly vote as to Gould's retention or otherwise. Interesting to see if an offer is made and in what context.

I dont really want Gould because i think he demands too much control. But what i would like is someone who sits above Millward and McGregor and ensures that the pathways and recruitment is complimented by the coaching and vice a versa rather than some of the clunky friction that happens at the moment. A General Manager of Football who is not interfering in the everyday operation of recruitment and the coach but makes sure their is a vision and they are all working towards the one end.

As GM he would need full control and would need to exercise it at his professional discretion, if not it is a job with title only and little else.

There's no boys club. A connection to your history is a good thing.

If we had @possm and pals view we'd lose the red v and sell to someone who's never watched a game, like @Frank Facer

Lol, so you would have made Young and Hornby first grade coaching assistants based on what experience?

A coaching apprenticeship under Mary has no value.

Young and Hornby are already good guys. They don’t need a lesson on how to befriend the playing squad.

Doesn't Mary and Millward both report to the CEO. A CEO who is a former Dragons player who played at the top level.

Our problem is that Mary, Millward and Johnston are owned by the 'old boys club'. Hiring Gould as the Director of Football with a place on the SGI Board would be the best we can do at the moment.

Our CEO can spend his time being in charge of things other than football. Maybe he and Doust together can do something about the refurbishment of the Taj.
