Absolutely. Eventually Sydney gets a gutful of subsidising the bush teams only to hear them whinge year after year.

The answer is easy. Run your own non-Sydney comp.

Or STFU.

Bush teams ?

What if the non sydney teams agree to get Brazilians ?

The working class game could survive without roosters and manly, minimal loss there

Once we get rid of Melbourne & Brisbane who would we hate?

Manly have to stay.

It's time for NRL rationalisation. Expansion is for the QLD comp. They can merge with SA or Canberra.

Why dont we just head towards 20 teams

They you can create two divisions of promotion relegation

Then you just need to promote the NSW Cup and QLD Cup premiers and we can introduce a ESL Super 8 system

I mentioned something similar a while back, with P&R every club can find their level yet can be aspirational and invest to get to the top. Much better than the closed elite structure we have whereby once the competition advances to a point and the smaller fish cannot compete they are just lost from the pro ranks entirely. I would not however, go near a super 8 system just to complicated and not necessary.

Current 16 clubs plus CC bears, SEQ II, Perth & NZ2. Then have 2 elite NRL divisions of 10 teams as you said with 1 up 1 down plus another playoff between 2nd bottom in the top tier and winner of 2v3 in the second tier.

Sadly, the rhetoric seems to be moving against expansion beyond 16 teams at NRL level- refer smiths latest comments in smh below. Good that the second tier is getting a spruce up which is badly needed in nsw to better distribute talent and resources to the bush. We could be waiting a very long time if ever for the current 16 teams to all be solvent and profit generating if that is a prerequisite to expansion as he says. He does seem to be setting the bar high and almost setting up some clubs to fail criteria, so any that don't have their act together in the next few years will be on the way out, merged or relocated.

Smith has no balls. Typical Union following shandy drinking softie. Won't make the tough decisions. Richo has been relegated to looking at the nsw cup structure when he thought he was joining NRL to create a blueprint of what the future comp would look like.

New cup to be expanded before the NRL competition, with no new teams to be added until all 16 clubs are financially viable and independently owned

Clubs under NRL administration because they are too shit and poor to manage themselves

Out of Sydney = GC, Newcastle, 2/5 = 40%

In Sydney = Wests, 1/8 = 12.5%

Sydney + Regional = SGI, 1/1 (If included in sydney, 22%)

Sydney is doing better than out of Sydney atm, and yet this is where we should be culling?

How about we get our house in order before doing the late 90s again?

Really?
Please tell me when the Dragons became a club 'under NRL administration'?
