Dont know much about Rear Projection sets but I am sure 9 hours of super saturday will burn in. If you keep viewing the same content week after week (Every Saturday) it will happen.

Not necessarily, as has been mentioned, no burn in on either of my TVs and never on anyone ive ever known, its almost an internet phenomonen in that ive never actually seen it happen.

I'm guessing you have a plasma? If so do you watch 9 hours of super Saturday straight without changing the channel? I'm betting it will burn in or cause a problem that you need to run something to clean the screen.

Anyone here with a plasma do the same viewing as poster? 9 hours straight I don't think so. LCD for this!!

There is no burn in issue.

Yep all the time, essentially every week. No retention/burn in ever (same for everyone else I know).

Plasma is old LG model (prob 5 years old).

Any screen retention at all / ever?

Why is foxsports 2 logo solid and the rest are transparent

I think it is a marketing thing why it is solid gold so when you see clips on the news it is unmistakeable.

As I mentioned earlier, I have never ever seen any burn on any screen, im only aware of it from the internet stories and the warning disclaimers in manuals.

But it is definately not common and unavoidable through watching the footy each week.

Thats good to hear then. I would have put anything on 9 hours of viewing a solid static logo would stuff it up.

Tell me, if you view this logo 9 hours on saturday every week for say 26 weeks, will that hurt? Like make that area of the screen worse then the rest?

haha im all paranoid now like im gonna jinx myself or someone else reading this!

No the screen all looks identical, and when I first got it, I was as paranoind as everyone about it, used to pause my xbox games (lots of static stuff on them) every 20 minutes and swap to tv to wash to screen with different pixels. Used to change channels every so often to change logos, never left DVDs on the menu screen for too long.

But after the new feeling wore off, I just use it like anything else. I even accidentally left it on overnight once with just black on the screen, no black burnt in anywhere.

So ultimately from experience (everyone has a plasma these days) I have never ever seen anything wear in the corner from logos. My LCD I used to have in the bedroom used to have slight retention when I turned it off for a few seconds but thats as close as it got.

Im not an expert and speak only from experience but I wouldnt worry about it as it certainly is not a common/definate thing, the only thing you can do to be sure is not enjoy the big expensive TV you bought so you dont possibly ruin it, a bit like leaving your new car in the garage so you dont damage it.

I dont get why you some of guys cant comprehend that burn-in is not an issue anymore. It was a problem years ago when flatscreens were a new technology & cost as much as a small car. However, just like all technologies the panels have been refined & problems fixed.

I have been told from Samsung Rep, Panasonic Rep, Todd's HiFi (TV Specialist in QLD) that Burn-in / Sreen Retention is something that still happens. So when you have these guys telling you that and then you come on forums and ask and people say no it doesnt, it kind makes you go WTF is going on, what to beleive

When the sales guys said it was a problem, were they trying to push you to buy an extended warranty?

Sales people are not always experts, I realise this every time I walk into dick smith to talk to the so called 'techsperts'.

Anyways you will find that it could be an ass covering tactic since it is still technically possible, you will find warnings in all the manuals, so maybe they tell you its possible so you cant come and sue them if on the rare chance it did happen.

Dont know, but good luck to all, I have nothing more to add to this topic.
