Don't suppose owen craigies eating disorder counts?

Ron Tanielu, near broken neck on scott mintos hip. Had to retire after it. At the time a qld cup coach that i cant remember who said him and ray cashmere were the best front row combo the qld cup had ever had and would walk into the 17 in a few nrl sides. Very early age and had a handful even less then that at the time, had a young family as well.

Luke Branighan.

EDIT: I believe he is still playing in the UK, though he was crippled by injuries when in Aus! Thought he retired.

i meant Rob, had a daley moment lol

I remember Steve Merideth killing it for the roosters on debut in a round 1 game going back a few seasons, broke the line a few times and was doing really well, went down with a season ending leg injury and dont think he has been seen since

Blake Lazarus, looked the goods in the original under 20s season before blowing out his ACL in about the 5th round, ending his season. In the trials the following season, he blew out his other ACL (or was it the same one?) and missed a second whole season. He came back in NSW Cup and had a few first grade games for us during an injury crisis, but wasn't as good as he was never the same since.

I thought he was playing Bundy Cup last year?

Edit: Yes, you are right, he was playing For Halifax. I spoke to him at Ringrose last year after he had played Bundy im pretty sure, he must have been playing back here in the English off season or something idk. Apparently he has signed with Young?

Not so much cut short, but significantly damaged - William Zillman's 2 knee recos in essentially 3 games

he was one of more gifted players ive ever seen coming through. He had amazing speed and great footwork and good vision. His vision is still good but his speed and footwork has suffered immeasurably. Like a lot of players, could have been anything had he gotten some luck with avoided injuries early on

Weyman also lost a lot of his mobility and speed after suffering numerous injuries early on. Good for him that he has still adapted to be one of the best props in the game, but i think without the injuries he could have been the best prop in the game going on his early canberra days.

There was a player who played for Penrith, in the late 70's early 80s?, Gallagher think his name was-broke his neck in a scrum collapse and maded a quadraplegic which is not very good for playing RL......very sad thing to see

agreed
the raiders under the unquestionable intelligence of the Matt Elliott used him as a battering ram close to the line as an impact front rower (how many of them exist? pipe dream once the unlimited interchange went off). Sure it produced a try or two, but mostly it produced a string of injuries and now a brittle mobile big man with SOO talent

he got belted on a weekly basis.
Also the fitness and strength coach (Jennings) has a lot to answer for, Mick Weyman in canberra was way to heavy for his frame, he went to the dragons, dropped about 10-15 kilos, improved his cardio and he's a much better player for it. But the damage has already been done im afraid
