No question that the eagles defence failing to make a single consequential play in the game was the major contributor factor of the game

1-2 sacks, 1 turn over… anything… and the eagles win.
But my god… to have that game ultimately decided by that call. Just unfathomably bad

robbed everyone of the grandstand finish the game deserved

A lot of over reactions to what is called every game. The replays did not help, mostly showed the second bit of niggling. Watch the first hold

Both QB's had great games though. Just one lost fumble the difference.
Also a shame the field was so terrible. Both teams played on it, so no advantage, could have been one of the all time great games on a less slippery field.

I loved those mirrored touch down plays. Was amazing it worked the first time on the right side. Then same play on the left and receiver walks over unmarked again.

They didn’t call that all game
That’s the problem. When you officiate the game one way for 58 minutes and you let them be physical and then when the game is on the line, you throw a flag on ticky tack shit that literally had no effect on the play

the play doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens in context of the rest of the game

If you’re not going to throw that flag in the 3rd minute, the 15th minute or the 53rd minute, you can’t throw it in the 58th

that’s where the frustration comes from. The referees establish the way they’re going to call the game and then in the biggest moment, they change their interpretation

It just stinks. The game deserved better.
And that’s to take nothing away from the chiefs, Mahomes was brilliant and proved why he’s already the best qb to ever play the game. The chiefs offence outplayed the eagles defence comprehensively and the inability for the eagles to make a play defensively cost them a ring

Pretty much this.

In the Bucs Packers NFC title game two years ago receivers were being man handled all game with no flags. On a critical third down at the very end they threw the flag for DPI ending the game.

I reckon there was a bit of DPI on the overturned Smith catch too. Defender contacted early.

For Kansas City to win the two biggest games of the season on questionable calls on the back of terrible calls earlier on those games has ruined an already terrible season. Probably the worst season in my 20 years of watching.

That's the thing. They were letting those db's get up and play physical. And both teams were doing. That wouldnt be in the top 10 holds in that game for the eagles DBs lol
Virtually anytime Kelce went out on a route he got held more than that. AJ Brown and Smith were being held and hit early at the catch point.

and that's fine, because it was consistent and both teams were doing it and the officials were letting it go. It was fair
Until the 58th minute and all of a sudden we're cracking down on holding. It's just frustrating as a fan to have it decided that way and on a hold that really wasnt even that bad, as above, you could go back and find 20 occasions where a WR was interfered with worse than that, including on Davonta catch/no catch (also how are we STILL doing this catch rule shit?!?).

I watch enough sports to know that asking for consistency from officials from game to game and week to week is a fools errend.
But i dont think it's too much to ask that we get consistency in how you're going to officiate a game and what you're going to let go within the one 60 minute game.

I agree and it robbed us of a chance to tie/win but chiefs would probably have held on. Kelce was also lucky not to give up a flag for a personal foul earlier in the drive so I feel from that point the refs were looking for something.

For me the call that cost us more was the Smith catch overturn which was the wrong decision. He controlled the ball, got 2 feet in and then made a football move in the form of a 3rd step over the sideline which means he is out of bounds and does not need to survive the ground. That was a terrible call and the refs not knowing the rules. If that stands we go in to the half 14 up instead of 10.

The Quez Watkins drop, overturned Smith catch, the inexplicable Hurts fumble and chiefs TD and then the shitty flag
The eagles made some really big mistakes in key spots and still the Chiefs had to be practically perfect to beat them...

unfortunately for the eagles, Mahomes and Reid were up to being practically perfect.

That said, i dont for one second think with 1:50 on the clock that the Chiefs had ANY chance of holding Hurts off. Not sure he scores a touchdown but there is NO question in my mind that a team that had scored 35 points already, had over 400 total yards was not going to be able to drive down for at least a game tying FG attempt... but if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle... the call was made and the Chiefs won.
