I think he is now trying to avoid being accused of the later.

In the past few years including the 2017 premiership year he had been accused of having too many Gurias Players in the Hunters than the other franchises.

In fact the first 2 seasons in 2014 and 2015 when the Hunters were based at the Gurias Home Town of Kokopo, one-eyed fans of other Digicel Cup Teams would regularly complain that the Hunters were just the Gurias in a different jersey.

I watched the second game from a facebook stream from some bloke in PNG's living room. Was hilarious. Pretty shoddy that they couldn't get a proper stream organised.
