Some good points made.

Although given how big self interest is in the game, I'd back an NRL team to fix any junior pathways system.

Afterall it puts them way behind the pack without it
That's why it needs to be based in PNG and not in QLD.

Yes, Townsville's poverty and crime are comparable to Port Moresby.

f**k me, the forum idiot lives up to his reputation.

At this stage Ignorant and Sydney going together is an oxymoron.

QLD is fine short term, No more than 10 years to get some locals feeding into the system.

All the options put forward for Team 18 will struggle to attract talent due to location
I think if the club is based in Cairns, all the staff, admin, board members then eventually it will become a Cairns club. The people in PNG won't see it as their club.

Sadly instead of what we should have, which is the nrl taking ten years to develop proper pathways, systems, another qrl cup side and then eventually having the nrl money to sustain a png nrl club forever more we are getting this rushed bodge job of a political brain fart. So rugba league.

I crossed that budget Sydney harbour bridge over the water

pretty sure it looked like a large body of water lmao
Yeh wouldn’t recommend swimming in the Humber lol

a lot of the housing in png is little more than shanty shacks, no consistent electric or running water. Only 40% of,
people have access to safe clean water. sounds just the place to put a multi million $ nrl club.

Here’s the thing which you and your coherts don’t get

out of 17 million people there would still be 1 million or so who have a high standard of living

the ground holds 25k at best

all the large mining companies will be fighting themselves to sponsor the bid

Andrew hill has said he’s putting together a strong bid anyway

the fact is 600 milllion is going to result in one of the strongest clubs in the nrl (remember the currency conversion that money back in png is massive)

heck ong will be such a success even you’re dud clubs (hull kr and Perth) will benefit from their juniors

png will provide benefits for everyone

1. 17milion population is unverified. The official population is 8 million

2. Most of the population live in regional impoverished areas. even if 5-7% of them were wealthy by png standards they would still be poor by Australian standards

3. having a tiny % of the population not living in abject poverty changes nothing about the chime, corruption, societal problems that png is plagued with

4. PNG have struggled to shift 15k reasonable, by nrl, priced tickets for four international games. How would an nrl club manage to sell 25k for 12 games?

finally worth a read

the structure of the PNG society does not easily lend itself to be divided into class categories. Of its eight million people, 80% are rural subsistence dwellers devoid of middle-class trappings. Further, a little over 350,000 of the remaining 1.6 million urban population are in formal employment
Lack of political power, modest earnings, poverty, poor health and lack of education are the hallmarks of the grassroots. The core of the grassroots is the 40% of the population on $1 a day
