PNG's back.

Or Easts Tigers. Seeing as you had them as the ONLY legitimate option.

There you go telling lies again.

There's only one bid that has a high performance training centre, money generating assets, access to the world's best rugby league stadium, support from the broadcasters and the ability to be one of the top 5 clubs from day one.

You're a total dumbarse if you think any of the other bids can provide the same amount of money, corporate support and value to the broadcasters.

Who is?
Storm are owned by 4 multi multi millionaires. Maybe png will attract some rich Port Moresby gazzilionaires and not need our money?

News Ltd and ARLC poured $100m into the Storm over 20 years to make them viable.

They did this after cutting Perth. It shows just how valueless Perth is to the game and its broadcasters.

When the wa govt stepped in we thought they would provide some genuine dollars for our game

then along came albo and png and dropped a Nuke on them

originally I predicted a figure of 250 milllion in govt support which he laughed at and said no chance

so now it’s 600 million he’s probably still in shock at the richest being thrown their way

png will be a juggernaut. And after ten years they will provide the juniors for clubs like the storm or Perth can not

I reckon PNG will win over the Australian public with their enthusiasm and style of football. The Hunters were a breath of fresh air when they entered the Queensland Cup.

A Perth-based team will be a poor man's version of the Storm. It won't have the money or clout to attract the game's best players, coaches and assistants. It's got Western Force 2.0 written all over it.

@Perth Red has failed to explain the benefit of adding the Pirates. All he's come up with is some shit about it hosting the 6pm Sun AEST game. If that's all it brings to the table then it's worthless. The cons of being based on the other side of the country bury the so-called benefit of hosting games at 6pm Sun AEST. It'll struggle in the player market because people won't want to fly across the country every second week.

It’s rugba league, after 43 years following the game I expect little and am rarely disappointed
I was pretty sure that things would get better when the independent commission was introduced LOL. Nothing more than wishful thinking sadly.

I guess that the AFL commission's competence got my hopes up, and the ARLC didn't stay independent for long in reality.

Had to kill off Perth and Newcastle mariners to make on competitive team

and throw 100 million to cover all the losses

and still poor juniors

Looking at the state of png I could make a guess! Maybe this money won’t just disappear?

We should be welcoming long term viable clubs into the nrl, this isn’t one of those.
So....WA doesn't have one, remember there's no " leagues clubs" no pokie dens, how is Perf pirates going to be viable?
Actually scratch that, this thread is PNG, derailing is no good

Dead cheap to charter 24 international flights a year. I hope those png schools arent expecting much to be left over for them!
Calculation not you're strong suit if you think 24 international flights is what this bid would need, i would say 9-10 max, 6 in png, 3 in other P.Is and a possible one in Auckland against warriors, the rest wouldn't be international if based in cairns

I wonder if the NRL will even bother chartering the same plane to bring the team back to Australia after the game, or just hire another one…just to burn a bit more money to prevent it from going to the PNG kiddies

And you have been so measured with your arguments
I'm talking about PNG and it's limitations, unlike you lot that are just shrieking at PR like a bunch of school girls.

For the record, PNG is a terrible terrible idea that's clearly not been thought out, it's a logistical nightmare and relies SOLELY on Government funding.

In a country with crippling poverty and crime, this money is a frivolous waste on an unneeded extravagance.
