Penrith have an advantage over most clubs in that they have a very large junior nursery, which they've had for a long time due to their demographics. It's just the last 5-6 years they have got their shit together probably kickstarted by Phil Gould, as much as it pains me to say.

Which they had other clubs come to check out, Including PNG.

They aren't keeping it a secret. You need the resources though

Demographic means nothing if you don't have the tools to funnel it, When you look at Townsville are they of similar Demographic?

The only argument for perth is the nrl should be charitable for 20 years Investing in a Perth team which in the short term offers nothing in the hope that after a decent amount of time they will have justified their existence
The biggest flaw with Perth Red's model is the damage it will cause to the Storm. There's no way the heartland states can prop up two expansion clubs in rusted on fumbleball cities. The Storm are already starting to feel the pinch. When Bellamy retires they'll be in a very vulnerable position because there's no one who can do what he does. If we add a second NZ team then things really do become problematic for the Storm. If the Brisbane Tigers get a licence then Melbourne loses access to Logan.

Dolphins vs storm

expansion done right vs expansion done poorly
Storm are a success, dont confuse ability to nuture kids participation or create juniors as the only metric....
Theyve won 4 comps, in the most hostile environment in RL history, its like soccer in USA, when NFL reigns supreme... imagine 2 Storms in AFL land, Vicky kicky would absolutely lose it

maybe, Townsville wouldn't have the islander population of greater western Sydney though. The Raiders had strong juniors in the 2000s and we won the inaugural NYC comp. Wey should definitely be trying to copy what the Panthers have done along with probably the Knights, Titans, Sharks and Dragons too. Clubs like Roosters, Souths and Storm have different advantages and challenges.

Bears ? Who just tried to join with png and will probably join with Perth ?

falcons who are in dolphins catchment ?
Yes those two, storm are very busy... theyve always had the SC falcons feeding them for a long while now, and NS Bears was one of their 1st feeder club arrangements, now coming back full circle... like poetry... doesn't stop them from bidding, just gives their up and coming talent a chance to train and play with a top tier NRL club

How have the storm grown rugby league in Victoria since 98 ?

having news ltd ownership when most nrl clubs were broke is the only reason for their on field success

Maybe they could try within the borders of Victoria

that would be novel

Well i brought that up coz, Townsville have a lot of area to cover, most are not well off, like the demographics of western sydney (which i live in too)
and there's plenty of players in those areas,
PNG is just like them, just 20 years behind, took 20 years for the cowboys to win a GF, took Penrith 25, and both areas provide the comp with bucket load of players every year, im not talking 1st grade either, its reserve graders too

They haven't, but atleast they are relevant to the sporting landscape of Victoria, moreso than RU or A-L, especially in the Alf heartland, its possible to be fans of both codes, as long as storm are relevant on the ladder they are successful, no other team has this disadvantage, warriors has RU, but as you can see after last years efforts, NZ watches both codes

They have a victorian based SG Ball team and Flegg... Not sure there is that many good players down there
One suburb In Penrith like st Marys has more

only because a league and union collapsed

Melbourne victory had higher crowds

the goal of a Melbourne team is to grow rugby league in Victoria not Sunshine Coast or north Sydney

Melbourne is an attractive place to live though, especially as an NRL player who is out of the lime light and getting paid handsomely. They might slide a bit when Bellamy leaves but I doubt they will be down for long.
