TBF, Roy Morgan's standard for a fan is just simply to ask people what their favourite team is.

You could go to any city and ask a thousand people what their favourite team in each sport is, most would give you an answer, and most of them wouldn't be able to name a single player, haven't been to game in years if at all, aren't members, and don't or have never watched the team on TV.

That's not to say that PR's poll means anything either though.

Roy Morgan do multiple NRL related polls each year. You’re most likely just looking at one of the ones they publish for free. Club supporter profiles are broken down into things like attendance, merchandise purchasing, television viewership etc. They’re quite specific.
