Anyway, this looks like being the last year. Next year will be a week long knock out comp. Lack of teams, players, too many forfeits etc.

The days of the predominant copper being male, 6ft, athletic rugby league lovers are long gone.

And dont write off the Cronulla boys. Didnt beat the screws last year either but won the GF.

Yeah the comp is on the rack for sure. This years very nearly didn't go ahead.

Lots of things have changed. For example, representing DCS (I can't speak for the police) used to be something that was seen as somewhat elite and desirable. Officers would be given detached duty to represent the dept. Now they play on their own time at their own risk, that means no workers comp for injuries suffered on detached duty.

Centralised rostering makes it hard to get a team together as well.

DCS have one advantage over the cops in that they can draw on players statewide from any jail whereas the police are area limited to an extent.

Hence one reason for all the forfeits.

Was a great game for the weather conditions... Plenty of good runs, plenty of big hits and a bit of biff thrown in as well......

Cronulla - St.George Sharks 18 defeated Corrective Services Cougars 10.

Go the sharks err dragons!

It was officially the coldest day in ten years and must have gone close to the wettest. A block of flats in Cronulla had its roof destroyed by lightening.

BIFF BROUGHT BACK!!

Rugby, rugby beautiful at it's finest!

As wazzashark said it was a thorougly entertaining game considering the conditions. A real take no prisoners affair. Some good tries scored by both sides.

The cops had the better of the game right throughout and played good territorial footy.

There were some major injuries in the game unfortunately and the Noddy bus was there to cart 2 boys away - 1 from each team.

The Coolabah Hotel at Merrylands was huge afterwards. I think we invented mad Friday.

Dislocated shoulder on the Cougar fullback. Broken jaw, VERY broken jaw on the cop. The cops fullback was in never never land as well.

I actually missed the end of the game cause I got busy helping out in the sheds.

Go the boys in Blue.... and we won. Cronulla bloody actually won something.... put it next to the Amco right now.

Frenz get me a copy of the game and I'll shout you a beer (or a suitable replacement)

It is about time real rugby league was played again - not the "Big Brother" version of politically correct crap with 70 plus points a game....8,000 cameras waiting to pick up the 2nd rower illegally breaking wind in a designated non smoking area.

RUGBY LEAGUE WITH BIFF.... "memories, may be beautiful and then, misty water coloured memories, of the way we were"

But and this is a Big butt..... what the f**k is St George doing hanging off the back of the premiers Cronulla's name....

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE..... Hey Gunna ( psssts got concussed 5 times in one season back in 75)

Cheers
Quigs
