Lockyer for me. He did things constantly that just made me say "wow".

I still hope I see him playing there again.

Gee thats a hard one.......Id have to say Lockyer, just in front of Mini.....his all round game edges him out.

But I reckon we have the finest crop of FB's of all time......Hodgo,Bowen,Hornby,Shifcofsce,McKinnon,Wesser,Slater....you could name nearly every sides FB and you would have a gun.

Very ulucky time to be a good FB and miss repping IMO.

and his support play is why he scores so many tries for Australia. He is always looking for the break down the middle - give me Mini any day - his positional play to take the ball normally on the full is outstanding as his ability to make the breaks from that part of his game. He also sets up his outside backs a lot in general play by either playing in the centres or making the quick break from dummy half. He is also a lot stronger player than Hodgson so has more ability to bust the first line of defence with power and pace

I guess the answer is this: In an age where we have so many talented fullbacks, Minis' the one who has grabbed the job, and held it. Lockyer gave it away to become a pivot. He'd have to win it back. Therefore, Mini HAS to be better, because Lockyer isn't a fullback anymore.

is this why Hodgson had more line breaks than minni this year????????just watch Hodgson support play vs brisbane hes been doing that f or the last 2 years watch him in SOO 1 u will see hes support play is the best around

Hodgson is like a sloppy piece of wildcat $#!+ when compared to Lockyer and Minichiello. Minichiello is probably the better fullback of the two in poll because Lockyer hasn't played at fullback for so long - Lockyer should be Fullback for the Broncos - Harmichael is a nuffy his step is just too predictable now. He gets snapped alot because he does the same thing every time (shimmy-step) and his defence is appauling most of the time.

You will also see Tallis throw him into the grandstand in that series. I think Hodgson is a great player but in rep footy I'd have Mini or Lockyer over him any day.

Many high ranking astute judges have marked down Mini as one of the all time greats at fullback.
His work rate is second to none.
has been super consistant since his debut.
Lockyer has been hiding for past 4 years behind his father in laws back.
I have never seen a player that works a game so hard and loveing it.

Different types of fullback. Mini is a better kick returner, line runner, defender and had better hands imo. He's also crazy strong. On the other hand, Locky can playmake, can kick well, has a great running game and is fantastic at backing up for the offload, Robbie Ross style.

For my Knights, i'd prefer Mini over Lockyer... But only because Johns and Mini have an excellent combination, and we already have a playmaker. Otherwise, it's Lockyer all the way.
You just summed it up right there. If you've got the likes of Joey and Fittler in the halves then you'd have Mini. If you have the likes of Brett Finch and Michael Witt in the halves then you'd definately take Lockyer.

Because they are both truly great FB's it all depends on the type of FB needed by a team.

I am sh*t stirring ,what I am saying is Lockyer has not been consistant and out of form quite a lot.
Bennet is his father in law.
But he is also a 5/8th now so there is no comparison to go on
Its more like the old Locky vs the new Mini.

If you are going to sh*t stir, or try to, get your facts right. Wayne is BEN IKIN'S father in law, not Lockyers. You clearly don't live up to your name do you.

Malaka,I thought Lockyer and Ikin were married too both of Bennets daughters, thats what some one told me.

back to the subject Lockyer is a 5/8th and Mini is a Fullback end of story.

Hodgson is a great player but Prince and Marshall made it easy for him this year. Mini had to put up with Finch and a revolving door of ordinary 5/8's this season but still was the Roosters stand out player..

As to Lockyer and Minichiello, see Tommy Smith's post, he sums things up perfectly..

On topic,

Minichiello is the best fullback. Lockyer WAS a fullback. But Lockyer was also one of the best fullbacks I've seen.

Compared on their time spent at #1, Lockyer wins, but Mini is no slouch.
