Have to agree with you ( Apart from the order and Jason Smith being there ) but don't get use to it.

Has SBW donr enough yet to be included in the top 10 players????

I think he is a gun,but surely he needs to have a big year or two,not just a great game or two.

Cheers.

SBW is sitting somewhere between Paul Gallen and Carl Tomato from the Warriors. Knocking on the door for the top 150.

Mini's a great fullback, but in a class field he's only a smidgin ahead, and that's because of a great run without injuries. Clinton Schifcofske defniitely should be mentioned here in the same category.

Lockyer was a ball playing fullback because Queensland have not produced a decent consistent half or pivot since Langer and Walters. If bennet didn't train Lockyer for that role, their chief playmaker would be Shane Webcke.

People also forget that Lockyer was a speed bump at fullback at times.

Buderus and Smith better than Mini LOL Even Sonny-Bill has to make the field before being considered one of the best in the world.

Well if you're playing a 5/8th at fullback, I can't see any possible role, aside from a ball playing style.

It seems Lockyers terrible front-line defence has destroyed most peoples memories of just how good a defensive fullback he was for his size.

I recently rewatched a particular game from 2002 against the Dragons, where on atleast four occasions he prevented the Saints from crossing. Sure, if a prop were to run at Lockyer from 10 out, chances are he's going to come off second best, but name me three fullbacks that who would do any better?

You will also see Tallis throw him into the grandstand in that series. I think Hodgson is a great player but in rep footy I'd have Mini or Lockyer over him any day.

how quickly people forget hes debut origin match the commentators said it was the best debut they had ever seen he made so many breaks of hes support play i bet Minni debut match didnt even come close

hodgson has a while to go yet to be right behind mini.
For a start hodgson has to be consistent and match 2005 in 2006.
Mini is seen as great as he is consistent. Sterlo said it best on the coverage yesterday, mini is highly consistent and they are no drop offs.
Hodgson has to do the same for the next 3-4 yrs.
Hodgson had a good 2002, but dropped off towards the end. In 2003 he went down the bottom. 2004 he came back well and 2005 he was very very good. But. One great season doesnt make a career.

um what the u just said 3 seasons 02-04-05 he was injured in 03 for most of it he was our best last year and he was easily our best this year in 02 he was probley one of parra's best too

Garry Jack,Graham Eadie and Luke Phillips.

All great defenders.

yes they were, but would they stop a rampaging paul sironen 3m from their line? I dont think so.
Lockyer was a gun at the back, but people have short memories as to what he was like as a fullback

Regardless of talent though, I truly think that on the player market today Minichiello could fetch the same money as any of these guys you've listed. And here's why - fitness. He is the one player I've seen in recent years who, aside from playing great and highly consistent football at fullback, just doesn't get injured. I think he's missed one or two games in a few years and that was at the start of this year. Considering how much he plays, and how often the other guys in that list are on the sidelines by comparison, he would be extremely valuable to any club.

And that factor alone in my opinion puts him in the top 5, when you add of course his ability.

f**king hell, how quickly have people forgotten what Lockyer could do from fullback?

Absolutely stunning. Other fullbacks have brilliant attack, but usually they are busting the line themselves. The brilliant thing about Lockyer was his ability to create attack from the back, rather than just break the line like Minichello. I can't believe what I'm reading about him not being one of a kind. There hasn't been a fullback like him in the 15 years i've been watching the game. Name me another fullback who was the teams number 1 kicker in general play?

I agree 100%, Lockyer was next to Johns and Fittler as the most dangerous player with ball in hand. QLD would not have won the 2001 origin series with Mini at fullback and i dare say brisbane would not have won the 2000 premiership without lockyer.

Yeah I'd have Hodgson over both of them he is the toughest player In the league, best support player and as good under the high ball as I've seen. Mini would be second he has the best return of the ball in the league. Lockyer was a good fullback but I didn't ever think he was special. As fullback he dropped too much ball and never really had the nerve that the best fullbacks have. He could inject himself into the play in attack really well but it takes more than that to be the best.

It's quite obvious you don't watch Bronco games. Either that or your a moron.

And maybe NSW wouldnt have won all three Origin series from 2003-2005 where Mini was FB if Lockyer was back there instead.

Brisbane would have won the 2000 comp with virtually any solid first grade FB. They were much better than the rest that year, regardless of Lockyer's presence.

I always thought Lockyer was suspect in defence at number one.SO even though he was most probably the best attacking FB I have ever seen,I never rated him in my top 5 as he couldnt tackle at the level I think you have to,to be regarded as an all time great.

Now Garry Jack....that boy could sure tackle.
