I won't be able to see the game until I get a tape of it later this week

for that reason alone I'm GLAD there are people on this forum willing to actually analyse the game and give me the negatives as well as the positives - I'm over the moon that we won but I also want to know where we can improve.

Now as far as the prop situation goes noah is right - if anyone thinks we will beat teams that aren't NQLD with only two props in the team they are kidding themselves - we need to do something now it is a huge step up from PL but players do it all the time - some fail and some show they are up to the challange but you don't know unless you try them. Looking at the PL forwards Lima and Small ARE the best contenders - I'd heard fantastic things about Cashmere from wests but from what I hear he's out for another 5 weeks and the rest of their pack got smashed by the Balmain boys just last week....so are you seriously suggesting that we should NOT call for the most obvious players to get a run just because they are playing for Balmain? I also think covell should replace Miles but I guess thats my Balmain bias showing

I haven't seen the game yet but we have alot of new players and alot of injuries which isn't helping. I can't wait to have Laffranchi back in a few weeks and then Payten (who will hopefully stay injury free). I think once we get those two back I would have Skandalis and Payten starting and Laffranchi in the second row so we have some size in the backrow and Gibbs off the bench.

I think Sheens should stick with the same 5/8 and stop changing everyweek so we can get some combinations going. I think Reynolds should be in the 5/8 despite the mistakes he made against Brisbane.

Its only round 4 we are going to improve and I am happy with any game we can get 2 points from.

It wan't flash but there are many positives to be taken out of the match.

1. The defense was fantastic. On the line and covering the breaks, the team did extremely well.

2. The young lads did their job well and will improve in the future (for mine Halatau is just improving every week).

3. There are signs they are starting to gel in attack but ball security is till an issue.

4. We beat the Cowboys for the first time on home soil. That is a huge confidence booster. If we had lost, it could have had a very bad effect on morale.

5.Most importantly, we have been competitive in all matches this year, even if we haven't be a fluid unit.

Maybe we won't beat the big teams early in the year, but I think come the second half of the season with the return of some forwards we will start to realise our potential.

beating nth qld isn't an achievement

It may not be an achievment in the NRL in general, but for Wests Tigers personally its a massive achievment.
Youre right Mikey...imagine that flight home IF they had lost again after leading and with Benji;s injury as well....at least there was a win to be happy bout.
Sheens will not be letting them get carried away with that victory, but its just another thing we need to assist us, get some positive karma into the place for a change after the last two weeks of official stuff ups have seen us cop the shitty end of the stick.

Plus if you add to the fact I think the figures were 6 of thier 7 backs have played state of origin, its a great win for us. Is it our fault they played crap? I think partly it can be put down to our defence which stifled and frustrated them.
We definitely do need another big hard prop somewhere there.....getting pushed off the scrum in front of their posts in the first half really highlited the probvlem we have of having a liteweight pack.....it was only thanks to a dodgy decision from Hayne that went our way that we got out of that little jam.
In saying this, the forwards we had out there last nite really went well, but we desperately need another specialist prop I feel....who cares if hes a tiger or a magpie, lets just do whats best for WestsTigers.

Good point on being competetive. We have been in every game this year and that is tops.Ive mentioned Sattler and Moddies game.

Have to be happy with the Halatau.Tackles his arse off and looked to be running at the gaps again......top game.Id be thinking of starting with him.

And Gibbs is a top player.Runs with real gusto and also works his ares e off in defense.AND, no silly penalties fron him this weekend.

Good work the youmg fellers.

And Brook,Im with you.Covell for Miles......Miles' makes me nervous every time he gets the ball, and Hodgsons kicking is no where as good as Lukes.

Cheers.

Exactly right fokes the facts are that we won round 1, lost round 2 by one point under dubious circumstances & round 3 we were in it up to our eyeballs till the last 15 minutes & once again under dubious circumstances and round 4 a win that has never happened at N.Q and with a sh*t load of injuries and young players filling the holes(so to speak)and i think we certainly have not played to our potential yet.But NO there will always be negative people around here. What do you want to win the premiership like Penrith did from last to first in one hit??????????????

who let this d!ckhead onto this site. The more I hear from maggies supporters the more I realise how rare yappy is. Max go and read what b_tiger actually wrote. He said the two points were good. However, If we think we played well we are fooling ourselves. Gibbs is our only prop who can break the advantage line, and as such we are struggling for go forward. If it wasnt for Cowboys mistakes we wouldn't have ever got in their 20. I noticed that Sheens said our offence was poor. Are you going to write to him and have a go at him.

also on fitzhenry. how many tackles did he miss. If it wasnt for harrison we would have been carved up in that second half. Someone has to teach daniel to tackle because otherwise he had a great game. He even looked good when he went to 5/8th.

There were good things to take out of the game.

Gibbs - sensational player who will only get better.
Harrison - geez he looks dangerous every time he gets the ball
Moodie - showing us what a class winger can do.
Prince - starting to run the ball more.
Farah - made a few mistakes but this kid has it all.
Patterson - thank god he didnt play

These are all posistives but as B_Tiger and Mr Sheens said our attack certainly was poor

Maxie boy your a genius

I agree with alot of what b_tiger said.
Very scrappy maybe it had to do with the conditions.
Look even more humid than usual.

Moodie well,he was great improving every game.I had
a few ???? over his signing but he was great last night.

Sattler was the reason why we won this game.Made a few
crutial tackles and took control out there.

Dene awesome again.I hope with benji out his is a starting
centre. This bloke has a great running game and defence is
solid.

O'neill is a 2nd rower leave him there. His had been making
a very good combo with elford.Don't weaken 1 position
to strengthen another.

Hook miles.Heart in the mouth stuff when a high ball goes
his way also when running it back(more so in slippery
conditions like last night).

Bring in covell for miles.Better player plus his 1000 times
better than hodgson at kicking .
I was concerned about the metre's they made in tackles .I
don't our defence was first rate as it was only tested on few
occasions. They were dreadfull.Just as they started to make
an impression they bombed it with poor handleing .IMO
we really missed reynolds.Hooking reynolds was a terrible
decision and to all those people that wanted him out the week.
well how 1 demensionial did we look in the halves last night.

As much as wanted benji in the halves. It was evident to
me last night benji is a fullback.Got give him room
to move and take him out of the defencive line. It's way
too early to put him in the halves.

We won with no forward power.Go figure.

benji is a utility back that i agree with but I wish him a speedy recovery cos I'd be playing benji at fullback against penrith

Yeah brook, BTiger analysed the game well in his original post.

The worst game he's seen for some time?

Obviously a student of the game. Watch a Manly or a Cronulla game before you say rubbish like that.

Positives:
Sattler and Moodie were good.

And the Balmain juniors went well.

Negatives: Everything else.

I wish, occasionally, that people who have Balmain or Wests at heart rather than the Wests Tigers would shut their holes or think before they post. You don't give anything constructive you're nothing but negative arseholes.

If you want to pat Balmain on the back, piss off to the NSWRL board with the people from Newtown, where you belong.

EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE ME DEAD SH*T I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN SO INSULTED. Now I dont want to sound as if I am offending anyone on this forum in any way shape or form.As i have worked tirelessly to reach such a high standard of regard on such forums.Firstly of all im not interested in what B_tiger or any other yank has to say.Secondly of all im not saying that it was a stirling performance that is going to win us the premiership, all i was simply stating is that lot's of negative d*ckheads yourself inclusive have a habit of bagging us when we win and when we lose and always having a Balmain VS Wests thing going Regarding the juniors( cheap immitaters of tugger ). Now regarding Fitzy yes he is not the best defender around but if my memory serves me correct there was a player that looked awfully alot like him that mowed down Ty Williams in what looked to be a sattler special D*ckhead. So like EA and others alike think on this forum if you are so pro Balmain F*ck off to the nswrl forum.
p.s....I hope none of this was takin out of context.

so essentitally you are saying the reason you had a go B_Tiger was because he supports Balmain not for what he was actually saying.

There is a distinction between constructive criticism and negativity and any moron could have realised that B_Tiger's comments were the former.

As for me mate I dont support Balmain. I used to but since 2000 have supported a club called Wests Tigers. I have never watched a stand alone NSWRL gae, and have no interest in doing so. Reserve Grade has never interested me.

People who have been here longer than two weeks will recall the massive arguments I used to have with tigger and Meltiger about their anti-merger views. I have a couple of friends who play in the Magpies Premier League side and they would laugh if they heard people thought I was for one side of the merger over the other.

That all being said the more you Magpies fans go on with crap the more I realise the merits of views held by tigger and Meltiger. Its funny how nobody in here can praise a Balmain player without being accused of being biased. The reality is Patterson sucks and Harrison is a genuine talent. It is irrelevant on which Premier League side they play for. The more you fockheads realise that some people just dont care for that distinction the better.

Im starting to realise why Australia doesnt have freedom of speech. I wish somebody would shut this guy up he makes my two year old niece's views sound considered.

History will confim that B_Tiger and Brook offer informative post match opinions and the discerning Tiger supporter can have confidence that what they post is pretty much on the mark.

B _Tiger,

Excellent, excellent post. I am agree completely with everything you said. It's good that there are some people here who are not willing to accept sh*thouse efforts every week.

The fact is that we nearly lost that game. We had nothing in attack - although our defence was excellent. It was only some individual brilliance from Moody that saw us get the win - no other reason.

Our forwards are PATHETIC. We could not even work the ball out of our own half for most of the game. We need some big second rowers and prop who can break the advantage line. Having ONeill & Graham is too much of a cost. Halatau is a centre but he put our forwards to shame - he runs straight, runs hard and makes the metres. Same with Gibbs. We need Viane back as well.

Someone please get rid of that dropkick Ftizhenry. He adds nothing to the team at 5/8th - a complete waste of space. He is a centre and should be played there or should go back to PL. We also need to bring Covell back for Miles and get our goalkicking efforts up.

A very pisspoor effort by the Tigers. I dont understand why we always play to the level of our opposition. We went pretty well against the broncos last week but we played like crap on saturday night and were LUKCY to get a win. The only positive was our defence - esp on the line which was superb. We never go on with wins, we never put teams to the sword, we never make them pay for their mistakes. Until we learn to do that, we are nothing but pretenders.

One thing i know is Fitzy is the worst 5/8 in the NRL. He goes ok at hooker and maybe has utility value. If this side keeps having either Fitzy or Wilson at 5/8 then you can forget getting the best out of the outside backs. Unfortunately for Fitzy i just don't think he is going to get there, he is 24 and been playing 1st grade since he was what? 19? Yeah he just doesn't have the goods as a first grade 5/8.

geeeeeeeeez........After reading some of the posts here I think im going to change my opinion,yeah.........that's right change my opinion.I am going to agree with fellow forum members who are obviously better judges that Tim Sheens a measley coach with a bad record of only 18 years experience in first grade coaching and premiership winning as well.Yeah you guys are right!!!! And i there for think he should hand over the coaching Reins to some of the astute people posting here as they are better judges. So i say fellow Wests Tigers Supporters let's rally and email the club and have either Noah & Southern Tiger as dual coaches for the remainder of the season.Since things are sooooo bad.
Now i know that some of you may think."Is'nt this a forum where people discuss what they think?" Yes it certainly is!!!
But why not leave the negative sh*t for when we lose!! I mean not that i think he would bother but Imagine being Fitzy reading some of the stuff that has been posted about him, when the team has won and the poor b*stard has been busting his gut trying to fill a position he is not familiar with. :x

Deadset, this board is full of wankers.

f**k being positive, most of you just love the negativity. You thrive on it and you talk a load of shite. I think we're going fine this season and nothing I've read here has changed my mind on that. 2 from 4 and unlucky to lose the two.

We had a bloody good win on Saturday night and I'm proud of the boys. All the boys.

We won ugly and as a wise man once said, it's better to win ugly than lose pretty.

Perhaps some of you would sound a lot more credible if we hadnt been finising last, seond last or third last for the last 15,000 years.

When was the last time we made the finals again?

Yes, bring on the mediocrity, its just what we need.
