Isn't it funny that when we win you can't find a replay on Fox for love nor money - but I have seen the Knights match about 20 times now on Fox Sports!!

It was a funny atmosphere at the ground. The crowd seemed very flat & I think this was reflected on the firld too, especially in attack. I was fumig after the match and on the way home, but the more I think about it I realise that half the team had single figure match experience. f**k, one kid played after spending the day at school.

The youthful enthusiasm lends itself to pushing the extra pass at times - although there was no excuse for Icecreams being penalised with the ball five metres out & in front of the posts. The loss of Woolford was massive & our attack never really recovered. The kicking game became Barrett-esque, with plenty of nothing kicks going dead. Failing to find touch from a penalty is unforgiveable too.

Defensively, we let them pretty much cart the ball the length of the field on each of their possesions - their dummy half owned the middle of the ruck, it was rubbish. Mind you, they were piggy-backed out of their half on a few occasions.

Still, I was happy enough with the effort of the team, all things considered. They tried their best - just weren't good enough on the (K)night.

Anyone watch the Monday Night Football post-match press conference, specifically John Cartwright and Mat Rogers? They made made some poignant comments. Suggesting their first game was faster and more intense; they had been talking all week about how the Sharks game would be a big test due to the damage the heat had caused the week before; and Cartwright was glad to be playing on Monday night because his players were drained and it gave them a couple of extra days to recover.

The Dragons didn't have the luxury of a couple extra days recovery time, which surely explains why they were so flat.

^^ Plus the injuries, and players being out of position.

You can't coach out inexperience though. It's simply a progression of time. I'd prefer to lose through inexperience than through lack of trying.

I did... very interesting.

Did you notice Laurel and Hardy giving their views beforehand?

Here is my take:

Creagh: Ben is 'Da man'......unstoppable.

Ashton Sims: I have been a fan of this guy since his first grade debut, and thought good things of him in Premier League. his ball security has improved heaps and along with his hard hitting running game he is looking pretty solid. If he can expand his offloading skills he's headed for a rep jersey.

Wicks: Pretty solid again. I always enjoy watching him bust up the middle and gain yards where there weren't any.

Ryles: led from the front and played pretty well, but his handling errors disrupted his rhythm.

Williams: I felt he was trying too hard to impress after such a fine performance in week 1. He needs to NOT try and play someone else's style (at times I got the impression he'd been watching videos of Barrett) and simply fill the role of 5/8 his way.

Wes: Put in another good performance, but certainly not as strong as against the GC Titans. I almost thought he looked a little battle weary from playing so hard the week before, and at times looked out of place in the way he played, but good all round anyway.

Woolford: De javu

Morris: Another two or three weeks in the top grade and I can see him emulating the way his brother improved. I predict a very competitive season between Brett and Josh as they compete with each other for a regular first grade spot (How would you like Hornby back in #1 and the Morris brothers on each wing?)

Lulia: "Solid without being flashy" pretty much sums him up, though probably needs to hunt the ball a little more.

McDougal: A consistent performance from who I see as the quiet achiever of the team.

Hornby: Mr. Amazing....this guy must be on the recruitment hitlist of every club in the NRL, and they are just busting for him to come off contract.

All-in-all the ONLY criticism I had of the performance against Newcastle was that the game was ours for the taking, but poor ball handling in the second half saw a struggling Knights take the prize. I say struggling because as poor as our ball security was they still seemed unable to capitalise easily.

If the boys can get back on track and put in the type of performance they did againt the Titans (minus the lapse of concentration when they were up by 12 points) I can see a win against the Cowboys.
